The two-person cockpit rule, protects against an incapacitated pilot, but it cannot by itself stop a threat from someone already inside. The real safeguards must be preventive: regular psychological evaluations, confidential peer-support programmes, and early reporting of concerns about a crew member's fitness to fly. Regulators and airlines should also review cockpit door protocols and train crew to respond when the threat comes from within. Shared my perspectives on the same.
Delhi: On Cockpit security, Aviation expert Arvind Singhatiya says, "Under existing flight security protocols, there should always be two individuals inside the cockpit. If one pilot steps out, a crew member remains inside. However, in the kind of situation we are discussing, where a threat arises from within the cockpit itself, it presents a very difficult challenge. This is an issue that now requires serious consideration. In this case, the pilot displayed exceptional courage, risking his own life and taking decisive action by opening the cockpit door..."

With his track record, getting sued is practically business as usual. 😅 What say?

This man never ceases to impress with the breadth of his knowledge and the wisdom behind his words. No matter the subject, Dhoni has a way of breaking things down with such insight that you can’t help but listen in awe. The way he simplifies the importance of fitness and its role in everyday life is motivating in itself.

A thought-provoking read that offers a valuable perspective on the challenges of building world-class infrastructure. Building faster roads is one thing. Getting truckers to use them is another. When you're operating on thin margins, tolls, food, repair facilities and safe places to rest all factor into the decision. India’s $130 billion expressway bet will deliver its full potential only when these highways make freight movement not just faster, but also more affordable and practical. The real success of these highways will depend on how well they work for the people who use them, not just how much we invest in building them.
India is building US-style expressways to move freight faster. But many truckers still prefer older roads, where food, repairs and rest stops are cheaper. Aryan Gupta explains what’s putting the country’s $130 billion bet at risk: bloom.bg/4Bn5lr4

SBI’s data exposure raises a concern that goes beyond whether banking operations remain unaffected. When personal details, contact information and loan-related records surface on the dark web, the risk extends to targeted phishing and increasingly convincing impersonation attempts. Customers need to know whether their data is affected, what information may be exposed and what precautions they should take. The investigation must establish the source and extent of the exposure. But customer communication should be an equally important part of the response. Protecting the banking system is essential; protecting the people who trust it is just as important.
Break: SBI confirms data Leak of its customers. #SBI Data Leak.

India’s highways are finally losing their boom barriers. Multi-Lane Free Flow tolling is live on stretches like Gurugram–Jaipur, and vehicles now pass toll points without stopping. That’s real progress. But MLFF isn’t where this ends. MLFF still charges you at a point: a gantry, a camera, a FASTag read. Your toll still depends on where the plaza sits, not on how much road you used. Someone who drives 15 km and someone who drives 60 km can pay the same if both cross the same gantry. Satellite (GNSS) tolling fixes that. You pay for the kilometres you actually drive. No gantries, no plazas, no leakage between two toll points. For fleets, that means a toll bill you can predict per route, per trip, per vehicle. There are good reasons the government paused it in 2025: data privacy, dependence on foreign satellite systems, and NavIC readiness. Those concerns are valid and need to be solved, not ignored. But the direction is clear. In my view the sequence will be: - FASTag (pay at the barrier) to MLFF (pay at the gantry, without stopping) and finally GNSS (pay for the road you used) What most people miss is that every step moves tolling further from the road and closer to the vehicle’s digital identity. - Unpaid tolls are already being linked to Vahan records, RC transfers, and renewals. Tolling is becoming a compliance problem. Well good news is that the barrier is going away but just know that accountability is increasing. Fleet operators: are you ready for distance-based tolling? What worries you most about it?

Delhi’s pollution battle cannot be won by restrictions alone. Phasing out older commercial vehicles makes sense, particularly when trucks and buses contribute disproportionately to vehicular emissions. But fleet renewal comes at a cost, especially for small transport operators. The ₹9,585 crore PARIVARTAN scheme is a step in the right direction. The real test is whether cleaner trucks become an economically viable choice for operators, not just a regulatory requirement.

India’s CAFE-III norms will lower the fleet-average CO₂ emission target for passenger vehicle manufacturers from 94.8 to 78.9 g/km by FY 2031–32. The framework also incentivises EVs, flex-fuel vehicles and strong hybrids through differentiated credits. For automakers, the strategic question is no longer just how to make individual vehicles more efficient, but how to optimise the emissions profile of their entire portfolio. This will increasingly shape product planning, technology choices and investment decisions across India’s auto industry.

No more repetitive checks at every state border! The 57th GST Council takes a firm step toward easing highway transit for Indian transporters: ✅ Stops allowed only on specific intelligence ✅ Mandatory pre-approval from Joint Commissioner rank ✅ Verifications limited mainly to Origin & Destination ✅ Faster transit & protection from arbitrary penalties Smoother highways. Less downtime. Zero harassment for compliant fleets.

The 57th GST Council’s recommendations on goods in transit are a welcome step for the logistics sector. Moving from routine interceptions to intelligence based enforcement, with clearer limits on where and when goods can be inspected or detained, can reduce unnecessary disruptions for compliant businesses while allowing authorities to focus on genuine cases of tax evasion. For an industry where every unnecessary halt can affect delivery timelines and operating costs, this is a meaningful shift towards simpler compliance, more targeted enforcement and smoother movement of goods across states.

At what point do people become so confident of breaking basic road safety rules that they stop caring about everyone around them? A Fortuner was reportedly being driven dangerously on the Noida Delhi Expressway around 12:15 am, with the driver even standing while the vehicle was moving. What gives someone the confidence to behave like this on a public road? Is it weak enforcement, or simply the belief that there will be no consequences? Either way, this cannot be brushed aside as just another traffic violation. Such behaviour puts other road users at serious risk and needs strict action.

MoRTH’s Chintan Shivir 2026 is a welcome opportunity for the Centre and States to come together, brainstorm and exchange ideas on the next phase of India’s highway development. With the rapid expansion of our road network, the focus now needs to move beyond quantity to quality. Better planning, stronger execution, safer highway design, quality assurance and continuous monitoring will be critical to building infrastructure that delivers for decades. But safer highways also require stronger enforcement. Reckless driving, dangerous overtaking, making reels on the road and other behaviour that puts fellow road users at risk cannot be normalised. The real value of this Centre State collaboration will lie in turning ideas into better roads, stronger enforcement and safer journeys for everyone. @nitin_gadkari @MORTHIndia
