I originally posted this on insta back in 2022 but with the recent news of a badge update, I wanted to repost and reiterate my intentions behind the redesign and hopefully be part of the conversation for the new design. #nufc
As you can see from my badge, all elements of the current crest remain. I’ve redrawn everything with a consistent line weight, simplified the scroll and enhanced the detail and size of key elements to improve scalability and overall composition.
We’ve all witnessed the errors made by other clubs in the premier league when updating a badge and I wanted to show how it could be done sympathetically and with the fans in mind.
My redesign was a genuine attempt from a designer and football fan to address a design challenge and improve the badge for use in a digital world.
The club have said their approach will be to refine and revive and this is exactly what I attempted to do 3 years ago.

Fantastic start to the new look gym wall art. Huge thanks to @ash_willerton a very talented and patient artist. I would highly recommend.
Can’t wait for the other 2 areas to be done over the next week. @ Inline… instagram.com/p/CCYFTH-AsAB/… – at Blaydon, England

Are you a POC working in the British design industry? When and where have you felt discriminated (during recruitment or otherwise)? I'm trying to start an open dialogue to help educate and inform, with the intention of using this research for a future project. Please share!
My two minute @stephenfry made me wonder whether I’m wasting my time with lettering
Some quick paper sign practice with a classic phrase from an old showcard book. If any businesses open in Newcastle could do with something like this at the moment, drop me a DM with what you need and we’ll get it done. instagram.com/p/B_PZzx8AXLt/…
One of my favourite projects last year was being asked to design and gild this stunning Edwardian fanlight on the coast. Big shout out to @msbriggsy for shooting and editing this brilliant film. #signwriting #lettering
