Footage emerging from Nepal’s Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts in the wake of the massive flash flood is some of the most apocalyptic I have ever seen. The scale of the devastation is hard to fathom, with hundreds feared dead.

An AI accounting startup hit a $1B valuation in 48 hours. The team just laid out how the whole thing works underneath. Rillet replaces the accounting system a company runs on. Not a tool that sits next to it, the ledger itself. Six hundred customers have pulled out NetSuite, Oracle, SAP and Workday to move onto it. The interesting part is what they call their own architecture. From their release: the ERP becomes the harness where humans and agents share the same financial data, apply the same policies, and work from one continuously updated view. Three decisions make that work: 1. Data arrives structured. Native integrations feed a real-time general ledger instead of dumping exports into spreadsheets. 2. Agents work inside the ledger, not beside it. Their words: agents need more than access to data, they need to be in the general ledger itself. 3. Every action carries an audit trail, and approval stays with a human wherever it matters. Their critique of everyone else is the sharp bit. Legacy systems store what already happened. The new wave layers agents on software never designed for them, which repeats the same mistake with better marketing. One customer runs finance past $2B in ARR with a team of three.

My buying habits for software have changed so much. 1\ I ask Claude for the top 3 players for what I need functionality wise 2\ I ask it to do an analysis of their MCP capabilities and and a comparison matrix 3\ I go validate the pricing tier I want includes MCP (some fools don't do this yet on low tiers) 4\ I sign up, get the MCP, auth to Claude, auth to my @Winslow AI co-worker 5\ I use it. I don't have to learn a single thing about your good/bad/ugly UI. Time to value is minutes not hours.

🚨 Anthropic just showed a 27-minute workshop on how to actually do prompts for Claude. Taught by the people who built it. Free. No registration. No paywall. I've seen $300 courses that don't cover what they teach in the first 8 minutes. Watch it and bookmark it now.

I quit BigLaw to do cryptolaw full-time a day after being offered to join the partnership program, in January 2018--the top of that crypto market What followed was a grueling bear where people thought perhaps even Ethereum is a giant illegal securities exchange because of ICOs I can say from experience there is one good thing about this kind of bear market (similar to now)--the community is smaller and pretty much everyone is more accessible and open-minded as we all need each other. If you're still here, you should be talking to everyone & trying to do deals.

News to share: the Blocknative team has joined Deloitte. It's been eight-plus years. Thousands (more?) of conversations. Too many talks, panels, blog posts, and podcast appearances to track. A team that refused to ship anything we weren't proud of. Grateful for each and every one of you. Onward. 🫡

Excited to share that I've joined Deloitte. For the past 7.5 years, building Blocknative has been an unforgettable journey alongside a talented team and inside an ecosystem that never stops advancing the state of the art. More on the Blocknative transition:

The US is now doing the kind of things we used to make fun of banana republics for doing when I was a kid. I know not all the people who supported this man are idiots. Is there a point where the non-idiots say "enough is enough?"

This shouldn’t be a philosophical debate. It’s a misunderstanding of how infectious disease works. Vaccines aren’t perfect. The measles vaccine is 97% effective with two doses, not 100%, so some vaccinated people remain vulnerable. More importantly, some people can’t be vaccinated at all: infants under 12 months, immunocompromised patients, people with anaphylactic reactions to vaccine components. They depend on the rest of us not spreading a highly contagious virus to them. Measles has an R0 of 12-18, meaning each infected person spreads it to 12-18 others in an unvaccinated population. The virus can linger in the air for two hours after an infected person leaves a room. At that level of contagion, you need 92-95% vaccine coverage to stop community transmission. When coverage drops, outbreaks happen, and the people who pay the price are often those who had no choice in the matter. “My body, my choice” makes sense for decisions that affect only your body. Transmissible disease isn’t that. Your choice not to vaccinate can put a 6-month-old in the hospital or kill an immunocompromised kid who couldn’t get the shot. The question isn’t “why does it matter if I take it.” The question is whether your comfort with risk should override someone else’s right not to get infected by you.
Tucker Carlson: "If the vaccine is effective and you take it, then why does it matter if I take it?" Cheryl Hines: "It doesn’t make any sense." Tucker: "So ‘my body, my choice’ was not a real thing, it turned out... It’s your body, my choice."

My POV: credible gas futures (including physical delivery of blockspace) will be 100% necessary for widespread institutional adoption. True decentralization is a big challenge, as is the Base Fee. All very much part of our roadmap with Gas Network – with plenty of research still required.
