For example, we were lucky to have @iceman_ex blowing the kids away in his workshop, never seen kids so excited about medical ethics!

We interviewed patients and clinicians at @RBandH who used telemedicine for HF appts, and found that telemed appts impacted time utilisation, clinical assessment, and communication amongst other things. We advocate a hybrid model tailored to individuals rdcu.be/djdBn

This whole Malhotra BBC episode demonstrates once again how science journalists are terrible at differentiating charlatans from actual subject matter experts
Prof Marc Dweck, chair of cardiology at the University of Edinburgh, on Malhotra: “I would strongly urge patients to disregard his comments, which seem to be more concerned with furthering his profile (he does not have a cardiology career to speak of)” theguardian.com/world/2023/j…

His very obvious anti vax crank stance should have disqualified him from being a guest, but even then Malhotra isn't a practising Cardiologist, a scientist of any repute and his views on statins are fringe, so why was he invited to talk about them in the first place?

Question: Can a viral AI chatbot generate "NHS improvement lessons" indistinguishable from the real thing? Answer: No, the AI's are way better.
There's a buzz within the NHS improvement community about these "6 improvement lessons to apply as winter pressures bite". It's about applying systems thinking & improvement to big challenges, not short term fixes: nhsconfed.org/long-reads/six… TY @PennyPereira1 @DrAmarShah #QITwitter

4 priorities for winter: • Vaccination - COVID-19 & flu • Support self-isolation for COVID19 • Boost capacity in the NHS • Provide clear guidance about environmental and behavioural precautions that individuals and organisations can take
“Had this been a normal year without COVID, it’d be difficult but I think we’d cope. But we've got an NHS that’s exhausted. We're short of 84,000 staff. We do not want a massive wave of other viruses.” Prof Sir Stephen Holgate, Chair of our new report 👉 acmedsci.ac.uk/more/news/win…

Really good thread pointing out the problems with the BMJ piece against adolescent vaccination
Thanks. For what it's worth (not an immunologist, etc), this would be my critique of the BMJ article: 1. Weird to frame benefits to adults as "hypothetical". Of course reducing transmission by children will reduce spread to everyone. Past school stats not relevant to current

If people think the vaccines should be used elsewhere while we have limited vaccine then fine, but to say that vaccinating adolescents is more harmful than infection really doesn't make sense and isn't borne out by the data

There are still barriers to overcome, but nonetheless it's an exciting time for Digital Health in Heart Failure. I hope it's informative!

As a result of the #COVID19 pandemic, the use of #digitalhealth technologies for #heartfailure management has rapidly increased. Singhal et al. review how wearables can support patient care and improve outcomes 👉 bit.ly/2S2BzHb #CFRJournal #HealthTech @ProfMartinCowie

I talk a lot about Wales' ability to get ahead on administering vaccine doses, despite being allocated the same supply as the rest of the UK. No change today. I *think* Wales made an important decision in mid-Feb that set things up for today. Warning: Speculation ahead. (1/9)

The UK's policy of not vaccinating vs chickenpox feels like a textbook example of cheems mindset: 1. Penny-pinching approach that ignores second-order costs 2. Ignoring other countries that somehow to make it work 3. Galaxy-brain rationale for why inaction is actually good

in which I try to impart just how urgent it is that the West gets its spare vaccines to India (and starts making more vaccines to get ready for wherever the next India is) unherd.com/2021/04/india-nee…
