Saved from being killed in a British Council pound, by a small, home run rescue. 22 Oct 2026
'Yesterday gorgeous Dorothy joined us, another unclaimed stray from the pound - she is a very lucky girl as her pound puller put her into boarding to keep her alive after there was no rescue offers after the statutory 7 days. This is not normal, after 7 days if a dog isn’t reclaimed it can be euthanised. The sad reality is so many dogs loose their lives due to irresponsible owners discarding them like rubbish. We need to do better.
We didn’t have space, I watched her and I couldn’t let her die so here she is 🥰
I know her chances of finding a home are slim as people just don’t want big dogs these days, but for now, she has made friends, settled on the sofa and enjoyed her McDonald’s breakfast, and I adore her big soppy nature. She has had a really bad time recently and I am so glad we were able to help her feel safe again 😘

This very special girl has been through more than any dog ever should, and now she deserves a life filled with love, kindness, comfort and safety. Could you be the person to give her the happy ending she deserves?
Pud is a female Lurcher/Whippet-type dog, medium-sized with a strong, athletic build. Her exact age is unknown, but she is physically fit and healthy.
She was rescued in a terrible condition and has received the veterinary care she desperately needed. Although she has permanent wounds to her face and scarring across her body, she is now safe, healing and ready to begin the next chapter of her life.
She does have some hair loss, which we believe is likely related to her poor condition. Thankfully, she is gradually improving and looking better week by week. It is wonderful to see her slowly recover.
Her personality is what makes her so special
Despite everything she has endured, she is genuinely one of the softest, sweetest dogs you could ever meet. She absolutely adores people, loves cuddles and is happiest when she can curl up on the sofa for a cosy snooze beside someone she trusts.
She has been carefully tested around food and toys and has shown no aggression whatsoever. She is a gentle, affectionate girl who simply wants to feel safe and loved.
She could live in a family home with children, although we feel a home without babies, toddlers or very young children would be safest. Because of her existing injuries, little ones could accidentally hurt her without meaning to.
What about other animals?
Because of her difficult past, we believe it is safest to walk her on a lead and have her wear a muzzle around other animals. With her muzzle fitted and her lead on, she is not reactive and happily walks around other dogs.
Her future home must be understanding of this precaution and committed to keeping her and other animals safe.
The home she deserves
We are looking for a truly special home that will see past her scars and someone who is capable of handling her. You must have a high enclosed garden and be prepared to walk her safely around other animals - she would love to do things like go to an enclosed dog park and zoom around.

Millie is a 1 year old female cat. She is looking for a new home with no other pets or children.
Millie has been spayed and chipped. She is very playful and would suit an owner who is home most of the time.
She is healthy with no medical issues.
Millie can be a little feisty but loves to play. An owner who understands cats is best.
She eats Sheba fine flakes, she doesn't like the fish variety.
Millie likes Dreamies.
She likes to sleep on the bed at night and loves affection and kisses.
She does not like the Felaway cat plug in's, these make her a bit wild.
Millie can stay on her own for up to 2 hours if you need to go out.
She loves water and is also registered at the vets.
Millie loves to sit on your lap.
She will come with everything such as her litter box, carry bag, etc.

Dumped in a garden centre car park‼️
We need new legislation re breeding and ownership of pets‼️ There’s always lots going on here behind the scenes, and we’ve had a really emotional time over the last week helping this poor poppet.
We’ve called her Pippa, and isn’t she just the sweetest thing you’ve ever seen.
Pippa, although only a pup herself was dumped in a garden centre car park.
She wasn’t local to us but was taken to a vets who we’ve worked with previously, and they reached out to us for help.
The urgency?
Poor little Pippa was in labour.
Upon investigation, various scans and X-rays we knew something wasn’t quite right. She had a pup in her birth canal, her cervix was open however she showed no signs of actively pushing or contracting.
We made the decision to preform a C section, and sadly when doing so it was very clear poor Pippa had been in difficulty for some time, and her sweet little puppies had sadly died some time ago.
Absolutely devastated, and equally furious that this poor little dog had been left suffering, to then be thrown out when she needed help and support most. 😭
Thanks to the amazing vets and their quick action we managed to save little Pippa, and remove the dead pups successfully.
She is recovering well physically, but emotionally, she will be a while before she is where she needs to be.
She’s still very underweight and we’ve treated her flea infestation, but she’s so anxious of people it’s going to take lots of love and time to help this little love.
She’s been through so much in her very short life-but your happy ending starts now sweet girl 🥹👌🏻

We are appealing for the public’s help to trace a teenage girl who has gone missing from #SouthOxhey
Elizabeth, aged 13, who is also known as Libby was last seen at around 10am yesterday (Tuesday 20 October in the Rickmansworth area.
She is described as being approximately 5ft 5ins tall and of medium build with long hair, half red and half brown, which is normally worn up.
It is likely that Elizabeth will be wearing a black blazer and white shirt, with black Nike Air Force trainers.

At just 17, Canadian student Anya Pogharian began developing a low-cost dialysis machine after volunteering at Montreal General Hospital.
She spent more than 300 hours building a prototype for around $500, which was later tested using human blood during an internship at Héma-Québec.
Dialysis helps remove waste from the blood when the kidneys cannot function properly. Although her prototype was not an approved medical device, her idea highlighted the potential for making treatment more affordable and accessible.
