It's official: @Walmart to acquire @vibedotco !
What the Vibe team has built since our inception is phenomenal.
Not just an ad platform but a full infrastructure that unlocked real performance on CTV.
Joining forces with Walmart, the largest US retailer and second largest US ecommerce retailer as well as Vizio’s ecosystem, will open up endless opportunities for the people we fight for every day: publishers and advertisers.
We unlocked Performance TV. Now it's time to make it as big as Search & Social.
And we couldn't have dreamed of a better home than Walmart to do so.
But if anyone is to be celebrated in this deal, it's our team.
Absolute legends. Insane concentration of talent.
To be clear though, this is not the finish line for us. It's a massive accelerator for our mission to transform TV advertising forever.
We can't wait to join forces with the Walmart and Walmart Connect teams, along with John Furner, Seth Dallaire, Ryan Mayward and so many more brilliant minds.
It’s Day 1, 10am. Back to work!

We don’t ask our teams what they got done this week. We ask them what they learned.
A big key to Vibe’s success has been pace. We beat the drum every single day.
Thus when @elonmusk came up with “What did you get done this week?”, I was a big fan.
But I don’t want to micromanage what everyone does. I want teams to get better every week and more independent.
So we changed the question to: “What did you learn this week?”
It forces teams to experiment, measure and improve. Every single week.
Get 2% better every week, and you’re 2.8x better after a year.
Don’t just compound output.
Compound learning.
TLDR: don’t waste time & energy to get a big name VC, zero correlation to future success
In the summer of 2023, my friend @benspector, who co-founded Anysphere (aka Cursor), reached out to one top venture funds in Silicon Valley, suggesting we meet.
They turned down the intro, saying it wasn’t a category they were interested in.
Ben insisted that he thought our team was special and that they had to meet us, but the partner still wouldn’t even take a meeting.
I drove over to their office on Sandhill Road and left a note at the front desk saying: “I think you couldn’t be more wrong. This is the largest opportunity of the 21st century.”
They ignored my note, and I never heard back.
My cofounders were still enrolled and left torn as to whether they should drop out with no funding.
We ended up taking the leap of faith and building the fastest-growing company in history.
It was a valuable lesson in persistence and why not to listen to investors.
The best startups are deeply contrarian.

Stripe for agents.
Accept agentic clients in 5 min.
Whoever builds this is a billionaire in 6 months.
Everybody is building agents for the demand side users right now (Muse, OpenClaw, etc.) but they all suffer the same bottleneck. Businesses are not ready to accept this agentic demand (checkout, leads, reservations, etc.). It's a nightmare and slow AF.
McKinsey & JPM say agentic commerce will be $5T by 2030 but only the demand side is being built.
Solve this, partner with labs, bank.
MOAT in distribution, network & partnerships.

Europe is collapsing.
The real reason is the erosion of morals.
Entertained by politics of all sides dividing the people over their egoistic ambitions.
The most basic societal principles like respect, empathy and care are fading away.
🇫🇷🔴 JUST IN: French high school students knock out a police officer and begin kicking his head with full force in the city of Belfort.
The health status of the officer remains unknown.
This is a developing story.

Not when the game ends and you look at the scoreboard.

I went INSIDE @vibedotco after Walmart acquired them for $1.4B.
Founder @arthurquerou has sold four companies before the age of 35.
At the time, Vibe had reached a $300M annual revenue run rate and was preparing to raise a Series C.
They were growing insanely fast, so why sell now?
Dropping Saturday.
not sure the open internet needed this. RIP

Likely. Independent supply platforms have a stronger edge than independent demand platforms in the AI world.
Everybody talks about being able to generate amazing motion videos within minutes with Claude.
But think about what you can achieve with the same amount of time it took before.
Just tell them what outcome you want.
Then let them cook.
Adam Neumann on why top-down management fails with great talent:
"Top to bottom means you think because someone reports in to you, they have to do what you say."
"But it's not true. This is not a dictatorship. They have free will."
"If you hired someone, they're really talented, they'll go work elsewhere. The more talented they are, the more the top to bottom does not work. They won't be willing to do it. They shouldn't."
"Great talent is not willing to be managed like this."
"If you're gonna manage these employees and you wanna attract the best talent in the world, remember that power comes from influence, not control."
"If you think they need to do what you said because you're their boss, you've already lost, and it's a matter of time till it doesn't work out. If they're okay with it... they're not the right employee for you, and you're not the right boss for them. There's no chance you're getting the best out of them."
