3 vital points but anyone hoping we’d be an easier watch this season is shit out of luck.

Fair to say folk aren’t feeling positive about our front line. This really does feel like a knife edge game in terms of the result, just without much actual tension. One small moment will decide it. And that’s not good!

We’ve been unwatchable so far. I literally wandered off and made breakfast while half watching. Missed nothing.

I read this as everyone has a plan until Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal punches you in the face.
Arsenal are the only team yet to concede goals in the Champions League this season. They have continued from last season's unbeaten record of the only team that went undefeated in regular time. Arsenal have scored 4 goals and have concedeeld none. Despite the media labeling Arsenal as boring, Opta has ranked Arsenal as the best club in the world right now with 100 rating. Bayern Munich is second with 99.1 rating followed by Manchester City, Barcelona and PSG. They don't even have the best attacking force but until you play them. You can compare their keeper to Martinez until you meet them. You can compare Saka to your best winger until you play them. Arsenal look beatable on paper until you play them.

The fact this wasn’t a thing did strike me as very odd. If that had been Granit Xhaka, etc.
This is a deliberate push. With a degree of force. Should have seen red.

Takes an state-funded oil club to beat one, I guess. But for now, it'll do.

I could sit here and tell you a bunch of funny and heartwarming stories about Mr Friar, but maybe it’s more telling to say that today I’ve been crying my eyes out for a man I worked for over 30 years ago. He was the best boss ever, and by some margin. RIP Mr Friar 💔

Arteta starts his press conference with a tribute to Ken Friar: "There are people in football clubs that create an identity, create values and have a vision to create a future. The legacy that Ken is going to leave, to all of us and to our club, is going to be forever."

Well worth a read for fans not familiar. A true custodian. Class that he has a bridge named after him.
I have known Ken Friar for more than 40yrs, I the history of modern football (post war) I would suggest that he is up there with one of the greatest football administrators in the game. Certainly for The Arsenal, he is one of the non player off field personel who you could describe as a legend. Following in the footsteps of the great Bob Wall. Unlike Bob Wall, Mr Friar would never release a book. Some of us begged and bugged him for years, and he would always say there would be too much to say, and you could say too much! Alas some of the great histories and stories of a period have gone with his passing.....

It has become very, very, easy to take how good we are in Europe under Arteta for granted.

Jose absolutely speed running the conspiracy theory playbook.
🚨 José Mourinho: “There’s something that smells STRANGE to me”. “Usually the referee's name is known 24 hours before the game in La Liga. So, why, for us, we always hear the name 3 weeks before?”.

Same Utd fans who insisted Bruno was Player of the Season and one of the league's all time midfielders now back to calling him a fraud and demanding he gets dropped. Who knew!

Max should probably look to make one more pass there rather than open up for the shot. The impetuousness of youth!

There's an obvious piece of analysis to make here, and I'm not sure it's that Sporting's recruitment is witchcraft.
Sporting sold Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal for £65m after 97 goals in 102 games. They replaced him with Luis Suárez, who has 47 goals in 63 games. Recruitment on point 📈

Dad phoned me to ask about the game. Me: "Laborious, then bang bang bang." Feels like a solid match report.
