It’s out, in gorgeous published form @PLOSGenetics! 🥳We investigated longstanding anthropological hypotheses about evolutionary changes in human body size & shape sex differences following the agricultural transition using genetic data from the UK Biobank journals.plos.org/plosgeneti…
Very honored to have received the Hickory Stick Award for Outstanding Teaching Assistant, as well as the Outstanding Department Service and Outstanding University Service awards from @iba_vu
Congratulations to the 2023 @VanderbiltU Department of Biological Sciences Graduate Student Award winners! @VandyBioGrad @J_P_Davies @arneraudrey
Very honored to have received an outstanding student presentation award for my talk on potential evolutionary explanations for sex differences in immune function and disease risk at #AABA2023! Had an absolutely wonderful time, love this community of folks.

The Supreme Court has voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito and obtained by POLITICO.
“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” Alito writes. politico.com/news/2022/05/02…
Waiting an entire two years for graduation may’ve been worth it for the beyond special celebration I had this weekend with my best of friends #PSU2020

We integrated skeletal and aDNA data for 167 individuals to understand health across the shift to farming, representing a snapshot of this dynamic and nuanced process (pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.21…). The project was a team effort and I’m fortunate to have worked with awesome people!
Over the moon about receiving an NSF graduate research fellowship!!! Feeling extremely grateful for all of the support I received (& continue to receive!) from mentors and friends. Looking forward to all the awesome science to come.
I’m super excited about these new directions my research is moving in as a first year graduate student. Thanks @EvolutionVU for the funding support!!
Congratulations graduate student @arneraudrey in @AmandaLea14's lab for earning a pilot grant from ESI! Take a look at Audrey's story here from the Vanderbilt graduate school: news.vanderbilt.edu/2022/02/… Keep up the good work! #Evolution Audrey joins us from @scholarsPSU, @PSU_Anthro

Officially a PhD student!! So excited to be starting this journey.
Meet @arneraudrey another one of our amazing first year students! Fun fact: Audrey likes to cross-stitch to relax!

Now published in @PLOSGenetics, in this paper we identify genetic loci associated with human body size & shape sex differences and study their evolutionary history. This was @arneraudrey's undergrad honors thesis! See her thread + give her a follow! journals.plos.org/plosgeneti…

We did not find evidence of selection on sex difference-associated loci for any of the other traits we examined. Ultimately, these results do not support the hypothesis that sex differences adaptively decreased following the agricultural transition.
A big thank you to co-authors @grg_perry, @Dr_KatieG1, @markwgrabowski, and Hugo Reyes-Centeno for all of the help and support from start to finish!!
