#JiminBirthdayHair Trivia #4! Why does bleach damage hair? Bleaching removes melanin by opening the hair cuticle & breaking down pigment. Repeated or aggressive bleaching can weaken the hair's protein structure, making it more prone to dryness and breakage.
#JiminBirthdayHair Trivia #3! How long does it take hair to grow? The average scalp hair grows about 0.5 inch (1.25 cm) per month
#JiminBirthdayHair part 2! #BAMUAcademics decided we needed to continue the #ParkJimin celebrations with another physiology lesson. Today, we’re focusing more on conditions that affect hair growth! #JIMIN #BTS
Alopecia is visible hairlessness. This can result from effluvium if the underlying etiology is not addressed. Alopecia areata is a specific autoimmune disorder where the hair follicles are paralyzed & can no longer produce hair = no new hair growth after exogen phase

The @BTS_twt Arirang tour has brought us lucious locks #Jimin. To maintain that flowing mane, protecting his hair by following steps of healthy hair care is important! What things can ARMY do to protect their own hair & scalp? Check out these tips from #BAMUHCP #BAMUNursing
Growth occurs in the hair root, specifically the bulb & follicle. The bulb is a matrix of cells that has blood supply, nerves, & pigment cells (melanocytes). Cell division in the bulb & follicle forms layers of cells that then die & keratinize to form a hair shaft.
Anagen (active growth) is by far the longest phase & can last for years! Seasonal shedding & stress-induced changes in anagen/telogen time ratio are normal (we'll talk more about this in our next post!).
Happy Birthday, Jimin! You rock every hairstyle you try! We hope it's the best day for you! #JIMINBIRTHDAYHAIR #BTS #JIMIN
To continue #BAMU's celebration of #ParkJimin & #JIMINBIRTHDAYHAIR, Academics is bringing you a hair physiology lesson! Let's learn a little about how hair develops & grows! #jimin #JIMINDay
The hair shaft is what we think of as "hair" - the visible portion. However, the hair root is the "living" part where active growth occurs (more on that later). The hair shaft is actually composed of dead cells that have hardened!
What is dead but grows? Hair! Hair itself is technically “dead”. The visible part of your hair shaft is made primarily of keratin & contains no nerves or blood vessels. That's why cutting your hair doesn't hurt. The living follicle underneath your scalp produces new hair!
Trivia day #2: Match the Jimin hair to the Jimin era!
A (long blond hair) = Arirang era
B (pink hair) = Boy With Luv era
C (bold burnt-orange shade) = Danger era
D (golden-blonde curly hair) = DNA era
