A fan of singer-songwriters who sometimes sing the most depressing songs. Good thing I like to laugh to have some balance.

Heard of the Savannah Bananas for first time maybe a month ago. Thought it was cute. Then I saw this -- I loved. Digging deeper, this is a true blue entertainment success story. Husband and wife launch baseball team in the stadium left behind by a departing minor league club. Almost nobody buys tickets. They're going broke. So they sell their HOUSE, empty savings, bet everything on one idea: Make baseball more like a show. It worked. Spectacularly so. Forbes values their business at $500 MILLION. They've reportedly been approached with valuations as high as a BILLION. And here they are, husband and wife, dancing at the end. Like the final scene of a fucking movie where they succeeded against all odds. Literally getting goosebumps for them. Like the product or not, what they've accomplished is nothing short of REMARKABLE.
All six teams performing at the first ever Banana Bowl to an original song, "Look What We Made" was one we'll never forget🤍

My dream Gen X retirement community isn't a golf course or a luxury resort. It's a fully renovated 80s/90s shopping mall. Half the building is apartments. The other half looks exactly like the mall we grew up in. The Waldenbooks is now a massive library where you can spend hours getting lost in books. The food court is part of your meal plan, so you can grab an Orange Julius, a slice of pizza, Chinese food, or sit down for a proper meal at Shoney's whenever you want. The movie theater plays classics every night. The arcade is free and packed with Pac-Man, Galaga, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Donkey Kong, and every cabinet game we spent our allowance on. Sam Goody is still there. You can browse CDs, listen to Bowie, The Ramones, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, or whatever you love. They even host monthly dance nights for anyone who still remembers MTV when it actually played music. The Sharper Image has massage chairs you can reserve whenever your back reminds you that you're no longer 25. The pharmacy is still an Eckerds. Blockbuster is fully operational. You can rent movies, video games, and spend 30 minutes wandering the aisles before choosing something you'll probably fall asleep watching. There's an aerobics studio offering Tae-Bo, Richard Simmons, MTV's The Grind workouts, and every fitness craze we survived the first time around. There are fountains everywhere, a lazy river because we've earned it, and plenty of benches where people can sit and talk instead of staring at their phones. Every morning we go mall walking before the stores "open." Every evening we meet friends at the food court. No algorithms. No endless scrolling. No influencers. Just books, music, movies, arcades, friends, nostalgia, and the feeling that for a few hours, it's 1995 again. Honestly, I'd put my name on the waiting list today.

@BeccaDevens You are a true sport! Thanks for hanging around and providing laughs. Hoping for a surprise tonight but, regardless, it's been a heck of a game.

Hate to hear this. Sonny Jurgensen is the man who made me a fan of the Washington team.

9-12-25: Georgetown News-Graphic cartoon. The other day, there was little media coverage of a school shooting, because it happened at the same time a public figure was shot while speaking on a college campus. That seems like too much, yes? #cartoon #CharlieKirk #SchoolShooting

Horrific to hear that Charlie Kirk was shot today in Utah. Political violence must be always and totally rejected. Praying for him and all who may have been injured or impacted.
