isn't that Discord?

The NEMAC will serve as the eyes and ears of the PNP to ensure a quick response to any disturbances during the 2025 National and Local Elections on May 12.

Discord is a crucial lifeline for countless TAX-PAYING WORKERS on the internet.
If this turns out to be an actual ban order, it puts real Filipino livelihoods at risk.
Para saan? Para mag-mukhang macho and gobyerno sa mga internet companies? Pathetic.

THIS DISCORD BAN IS HARMFUL TO FILIPINOS. I'm a single mom to an autistic child. I'm also an artist and voice actor in game development that relies on Discord for my livelihood. Please do help sign this petition so we can have our voices be heard!

Unfortunately, recent government statements and impending threats to restrict or ban major online platforms, including Reddit, Discord, and potentially Meta platforms which jeopardize the livelihoods of millions of Filipino remote workers, freelancers, and creative professionals. The digital sector supports a massive portion of our national workforce across IT, creative arts, and game development. A hasty, blanket restriction risks crippling these essential industries.
As a single mother raising a child with special needs, remote work is not just a convenience, it is my family’s lifeline. I rely on platforms like Discord daily for production pipelines, asset management, and real-time collaboration with global creative teams. Work from home setups allow parents, caregivers, and marginalized workers across the nation to earn a sustainable living while caring for our families. Encroaching on these tools severely disrupts our ability to work.
From the perspective of a parent working in game development, the root issue is not the communication tools themselves, but a fundamental gap in digital media literacy, mental health support, and parental oversight. Abruptly blocking communication channels does not solve online risks; it merely displaces them while inflicting massive collateral damage on law-abiding digital workers.
We call upon the Philippine Government to please reevaluate their position on this ban. I hope you can all help me sign this petition so we can facilitate proper dialogue and communication so that we can all understand this critical issue with proper nuance. That meets both the needs of safety and also does not encroach on the livelihoods of many Filipinos.

It seems like lots of Filipinos don't know about the main issue regarding the mass banning of social media platforms in PH.
In reality, they're using this to take away your freedom of speech.
Please do your research and start standing up for yourself!

FIX THE ACTUAL PROBLEM, NOT THE EASIEST TARGET
#PauloAvelino naglabas ng reaksyon kaugnay sa biglaang pagba-ban ng gobyerno sa ‘Discord’.
“First world countries: Discord, add age verification.
Philippines: Discord, bye.
People use Discord for work meetings, school, and running small businesses. Block it and they all get hit, while bad actors just move to another app.
Child safety matters. So fix the actual problem, not just the easiest target!”
MGA BOBO HAHAAHAHA DAMI DAMING PROBLEMA NG BANSA UUNAHIN PA TO? BAKIT HINDI SEGURIDAD SA MGA SCHOOLS OR PUBLIC SPACES AYUSIN NIYO? BULOK
The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) meets with officials of Discord and Reddit after it issued an urgent directive for both platforms to set up local offices in the Philippines.
“We decided to grant them an extension since they responded within the 24 hours, and we want to give them the opportunity to work with us because what we want is accountability and a clear mechanism for government to coordinate with the platforms,” CICC Executive Director Undersecretary Aboy Paraiso said in a statement. | via @beypinlac

I just hired a guy from the Philippines and we only communicate through discord 😐
wtf do you mean this shit was banned 48hrs later 😭
Discord has been banned in the Philippines due to the government deeming it a danger to children.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Discord has not been banned in the Philippines. The CICC extended its ultimatum for local presence after Discord pledged cooperation on safety measures; reported access issues are ISP-specific (e.g. Globe) rather than a full government ban.
