Don't like to see this situation - but for folks looking out, we're also hiring at @AdobeResearch to build #adobefirefly for all modalities. We want to move fast and we've increased our gpu budget ~15x in the last 18 months. We also still publish.
to my researcher friends (at @openai and those who watched this saga unfold) -- if you want to focus on doing solid *open* and published research, have access to lots of hardware -- there are a few options: Meta, Mistral, etc. don't let your work get lost in corporate sagas! Each of those come with some tradeoffs -- * Meta is large and important for society, so certain kinds of research won't be okay, and velocity will be lower. * Mistral is small and with somewhat limited funding, so there'll be a lot of focus and more limited resources (which is good but also might not be what you want) * Google Deepmind still publishes, but isn't as open (never was relative to say Meta) -- i hear they wont publish stuff around Gemini, but someone from Google feel free to clarify. (won't ennumerate others, but feel free to comment below).

So excited for people to see some of the "what ifs" the @Figma and @Adobe teams are thinking about together.
Since announcing the acquisition over a year ago now, we’ve talked a lot about what the future could look like, but we haven’t shown it. So, we came together with @scottbelsky and the @adobe team to imagine “what if ...” We wanted to share some of our ideas with you.

A few hours ago, Adobe released Firefly 2, their new AI image generator. But how good is it? I compared it to Midjourney & DALL-E 3 across 10 very different image categories so you don't have to. Here are the results:

Replying to @AirbnbHelp
@AirbnbHelp what’s the point of aircover? We arrived with two toddlers (which the host knew about) to a death trap of a house with broken railings, a doorless cleaning closet, electric plates with accessible wires, never mind the broken shower, oven door falling off… (1/3)

We contacted Airbnb within an hour of arriving and had to book another place on our own since we couldn’t get a hold of someone who could help. We finally got a response this afternoon and were told we’ll be refunded 10% of the first night (of 5)… (2/3)

…and that we should try to convince the host to refund us the rest (???). 12+years as a customer and this is the worst experience we’ve had to date (3/3)
