I’m reminded today that France is in its Fifth Republic after having three revolutions (and overthrowing its monarchy three times) and two major uprisings since 1789. Before that, France (and its pre-polity forms) was at war almost every decade of its existence. Peace is hard work and easy to take for granted.

Our new work using virus-specific T cells as biosensors in Long COVID. These data point to viral persistence detected by T cells and some level of T cell exhaustion. Excellent work by @markmpainter biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

At long last, we know p256r1 is (probably) not an NSA backdoor! One of my favorite crypto conspiracy theories.
The mystery now, is why this wasn't shared with the initial spec and better documented in the first place.

Thousands of North Korean IT workers are infiltrating companies across the world, generating millions of dollars for the North Korean regime and gaining access to sensitive corporate networks.
Posing as legitimate remote employees, they use stolen identities, earn salaries from unwitting companies, exploit their access to steal data, and funnel their earnings back to North Korea.
The scheme relies on a network of facilitators – including Americans – who are paid to appear on camera, participate in job interviews, verify fraudulent identities, and keep employment-related devices connected to the internet at personal residences.
U.S. companies should recognize the scale and persistence of the threat and review our updated @FBI PSA for mitigation guidance: ic3.gov/PSA/2026/PSA261013
Model alignment is just as important in the layered defense strategy for safe agents as basic cyber hygiene and advanced infrastructure defense. The frontier requires a whole of team effort. Inspired by how thoughtful the Gemini team has been.
We did a lot to understand Gemini 4's capabilities and propensities, and to improve our mitigations for this launch -- you can get a tl;dr here blog.google/innovation-and-a… and dive into the report storage.googleapis.com/deepm…

Cyberattack on French supermarkers. Someone remotely took over refrigeration controllers and made them to defrost. Target temperature set to 50°C. Staff opening freezers in the morning were hit by a wave of hot air. Millions of euros lost. France spent years debating food sovereignty to depend on a firmware update? bfmtv.com/economie/consommat…

JUST IN: Activity on several major U.S. political subreddits plunges following attacks on Russian data centers.
It's not an either or, it's an AND. You have to have really strong fundamentals AND we need to move to a Beyond Zero world with dynamic intent-based authorization layers and real-time disruption, also paired with good model alignment, containment, CoT monitoring, and advancing societal norms/standards. It's layered defense in an AI world.
This is correct:
"Attempting to outpace AI-driven exploitation with reactive defense is a losing battle. As Provos noted in follow-up work on AI threats[1], security teams should focus on using security invariants to limit attack paths rather than trying to defend at machine speed."

Can’t wait for the videos of the Amargosa and Mojave rivers!!! Rain in the desert is a fickle beast.
The NOAA National Hurricane Center has just issued a Tropical Storm Watch part coastal Southern California, including city/county of San Diego. This is only second time such a product has ever been issued for any part of California (TS Hilary in 2023 was other instance). #CAwx

everyone's talking about the missing 045 in OpenAI's math results, but nobody's doing the appropriate schizoanalysis of the catalogue's organization and what the neighboring results imply about which cryptographic assumptions it might break

Today at Google Cloud’s Gemini at Work event, we announced Gemini, a new single universal agent for work that has all of your business context and can be used for everything from knowledge work to answering questions, and content creation to coding, all from a single prompt box.
It’s built around core architectural principles:
☑️ Unified Agent: Gemini can answer questions, do knowledge work and generate code from a single prompt box.
☑️Access: Gemini is web-based and can be accessed from any device and integrated into third-party applications. It can also operate without a dedicated user interface.
☑️Persistent Execution: It runs in the cloud, which means it maintains a single set of memories, context and one personalization graph no matter where you access it.
☑️Multi-Agent Orchestration: Gemini can create sub-agents to tackle multi-step tasks and can also act as a coworker agent with a defined role and its own dedicated identity
☑️Context: Gemini knows your tools, data, and work history and learns how you work the more you use it.
☑️Model Choice Flexibility: It orchestrates across multiple models to deliver optimal quality and lower your costs.

1/ My new blopost on "Why the AI Vulnpocalypse Isn’t the Breachpocalypse (Yet)?"
TL;DR: The vuln surge (‘The Vulnpocalypse’) is real. The breach surge isn’t. YET. Vulns were never the bottleneck; the economics are.

🚨U.S. Department of State-Rewards for Justice is offering a reward up to $10 million for information on Zhang Yu, who is accused of working on behalf of China’s Ministry of State Security to gain unauthorized access into COVID-19 research conducted by U.S.-based universities and scientists. His co-conspirator, Xu Zewei, was arrested and extradited to the U.S. earlier this year.

I think I found a planet nobody knew existed.
It's been hiding in NASA telescope data for seven years.
At the end of this thread, you can fly to it yourself.
Lots of hot takes on an incident we don’t have a ton of facts on, but there’s a nugget of a lesson here… patch patch patch. A lot of orgs wait 30 days to apply vendor fixes. Two years ago we wouldn’t blink twice. Today you need to patch within hours.
It sounds unreasonable and alarmist — and I’m sure someone will reply with “we can’t patch our way out of this” — but here we are. Welcome to the new world.
A friendly vulnpocalypse reminder: we need to finish the vulnerability Deep Clean before we put people and serious compute in orbit and on the moon and Mars. Patch patch patch. Check all new code before deployment. It’s just around the corner!
I remember the first meeting where the team pitched the idea of putting compute in space - exciting idea!
Today's successful launch with our partner @planet prototype satellite shows how far we've come...and how far there is to go. Thanks for the lift, @SpaceX, another spectacular booster landing too🚀
Excited to see AI being put to good use for public health.
Today the @CDCgov announced that of 39 eligible models, Google's science AI model ranked highest for forecasting flu-related hospital admissions during the 2025-26 flu season. Google's forecasts were developed using Empirical Research Assistance, an AI tool that generates computational solutions across a range of scientific fields.
