Her name is Katie Bouman, an MIT graduate.
3 years ago she led the creation of a new algorithm to produce the first-ever image of a black hole we are seeing today.

you know a play is exceptional when you bang on about it so much that a listener protectively asks if you know the writer or if you’ve just come over to harass her (both). @arestheplay and @katgrngr are masterpieces, highlights not only of @VAULTFestival but of all London theatre

Final week #VAULTFestival recommendations! @arestheplay is a solo play that passes the #bechdeltest with a female NASA employee at its helm. An examination of life's big topics: death, parenthood, responsibility, and black holes, all explored through a scientific lens ✨

Mary Jackson — our first black female engineer — was just as committed to community service as she was to our missions. She spent her free time helping kids at the community center conduct their own experiments. Learn & reflect for #BlackHistoryMonth: go.nasa.gov/2N9ZaPm
ALT Mary Jackson began her engineering career in an era in which female engineers of any background were a rarity. In the 1951 when she was hired by NASA's predecessor agency, the NACA, she very well may have been the only black female aeronautical engineer in the field.
