They call us “The Elderly.” But here’s the truth of it… We were born in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. We grew up in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. We studied in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. We dated in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. We got married, built families, and discovered the world through the 70s, 80s, and 90s. We chased dreams in the 80s and 90s. We settled down in the 2000s. We grew wiser in the 2010s. And today, we’re still moving strong through the 2020s and beyond. That means we’ve lived through eight decades… two centuries… two millennia. We’ve seen the world leap from operator-assisted calls to instant video chats. From slideshows to YouTube. From vinyl records to streaming music. From handwritten letters to email, WhatsApp, and emojis. We’ve listened to matches on crackling radios, then watched them on black-and-white TVs, color screens, and now 3D HD. We rented VHS tapes at video stores, now we stream entire libraries on Netflix. We witnessed the birth of computers—punch cards, floppy disks—and now we carry supercomputers in our pockets. We grew up in shorts, later rocked Oxfords, bell-bottoms, shell suits, and blue jeans. We survived polio, meningitis, tuberculosis, swine flu, and now COVID-19. We rode skates, tricycles, bicycles, mopeds, gas cars—and now we drive hybrids and electrics. Yes, we’ve been through a lot. But what a ride it has been. They might call us “exennials”— a generation born in the analog world, who came of age in the digital one. We’ve truly “seen it all.” Ours is a generation that didn’t just witness change— we adapted to it, over and over again. So here’s to us— a once-in-history generation. Unique. Unrepeatable.
