At @AndyLeonard recommendation I’ve started listening to Vibe Coding by Gene Kim (Phoenix Project, etc). Got me to thinking. Right now, when I ask @Copilot for code, I specify the language. Wondering how much longer before it starts picking out the best language for the job? Or even more, it goes directly to low level code (assembly, or heck even binary) for the code it produces, skipping over anything I can read?

Was hoping for a quiet holiday, catch up on blogging after 2+ years. New job, I come down with Cancer, youngest daughter (25) has an array of issues including POTS, EDS, Celiac. Then, 2 weeks ago wife breaks her ankle, had surgery last Monday. No walking. #NoRestForTheWicked

Is it wrong that I really, really, REALLY want Clippy to be the official mascot for @Copilot ?

I'm having an issue in my @Apple #iPad Pro and #iPhone 16 with latest OS release. When I open the @Amazon @AmazonKindle software (also latest release, plus one version back), it stays open for one to two seconds then crashes. Turns out it only affects my cellular enabled devices. I have WiFi only non-cellular 13 inch iPad Air and an old iPad Mini 5 that work fine. If I turn off cellular data on my iPhone 16 / iPad Pro 11 then the Kindle software works fine. It doesn't matter if WiFi is turned on or not, that doesn't seem to affect the Kindle software. I hope this workaround will help others having a similar issue. It's annoying but at least I can read my latest batch of Kindle books. And maybe it will give either @amazonKindle or @apple clues where to start looking, not sure whose responsibility this is.

Well, guess who has prostate cancer? Yep, me. Short version, I have stage 3 prostate cancer. I'm about to start a 2 year hormone therapy which blocks my production of testosterone. In three months I will begin a six week daily radiation therapy. They found definite signs of cancer on my prostate via biopsy and MRI. Other factors (primarily my super high PSA) seems to indicate it is trying to or is spreading to my lymph nodes. The hormone I'll be taking stops my production of testosterone. This can lead to: Lethargy. Nausea. Weight gain. Hot flashes, difficulty in controlling body temperature. (Potentially) some brain fog or memory issues. Being more emotional. Frequent and urgent need for "bio" breaks. By doing hormones for three months first, it will help shrink my prostate and make the radiation more effective. However during the radiation it may amplify some of the issues I listed above. That should only last for the six weeks I'm getting blasted with radiation. Still hoping it triggers something and I turn into a super hero. Best of all I get to enjoy the hormone effects for two [explicatives deleted] years. On the bright side, even at Stage 3 he said I wind up with a 99 success rate by using the hormone / radiation combo. He did say that exercise is one of the best ways to combat a lot of the symptoms, and that after 1,134 continuous days of exercise my body has become accustomed to it, which is good. However he also stated I'll have to really push myself to get through a workout. Weight lifting he said is especially good, which I do (and honestly is my favorite). Well no need for pity or anything, I fully intend to kick cancer's ass. I'll just feel like crap for a few years. And a reminder guys, get your prostates checked. Catching it early like I did is what leads to a good result. And ladies, breast cancer is real too so get your checkups!

Need advice. I’m looking for a hosting site where I can upload markdown documents using ftp and make them available to novice users of the web (yes, there are some). I know I can do just this with github, but the github UI doesn’t seem to me especially friendly to average users. Cheap would also be nice, this is mostly for my ham radio hobby purposes. TIA

Yesterday marked my 1,000th day in a row of exercise. I’ve gone from a 58 to 46 waist (and still going). Have more energy, and the other benefits they tell you about. If an old geezer like me can do it, you can too! No excuses. Be a monster. Now I’m off to attack day 1,001.

My life is a comedy of errors. Last weekend I was digging up drainage lines because they’d gotten clogged. Well, digging and cutting thru 25+ years of vines and roots that had grown over it. A few days ago I realized those vines were poison ivy, as I’ve now broken out in a rash on my ankles, arms, face, even back of ears. Last night I was slathering anti itch ointment on myself, dropped the cap, and somehow threw out my back bending over to get it. Getting old is not for the week and timid.

This is why I don’t own a cat.
