Today I met with officials in Helsinki, which has had a ~75% drop in road deaths over the last thirty years (including recent years with no ped/cyclist deaths at all).
Me: “How much of a role has IT played in reducing crashes?”
City official: “Zero. We simply slowed down cars.” – at Helsinki, Finland

This is a slide from a presentation given tonight to #Boulder City Council where historic preservation people are advocating to landmark a (pretty damn ugly) building.
One of these is not like the others
Small scale commercial in neighborhoods is one of my favorite things about Portland
“Let’s allow corner stores back into our neighborhoods. Let’s keep things human-scaled with local businesses and small structures that will nestle into our neighborhoods, just like the examples we already know.”
