Aforementioned: a small press. apt: a lit journal. The cerebral meets the visceral. We support writing as social action.

framing massive school closures as “because of staff shortages” not “bc of the 🦠” puts the blame on the people who taught our children and caught the virus anyway, and sucks #phled

Justice for Breonna Taylor would actually mean Breonna was alive, with us, perhaps unknown to us in a sea of Black folks in the world. Pigs in a cage ain't justice, that's liminal harm.
It's (been) time to acknowledge the failures carcerality forces us to settle for/accept.

Growing up, Mom said many times that we have to work twice as hard as white people just to be seen as equal to them. How much was riding on Chadwick to execute the role of T'Challa for the film's success? To make possible roles/films like that for other Black actors? He did it.

and said it was empty. Maybe that’s why I imagine a god up there to fill
what seems unimaginable.

Recently, Roxane Gay suggested that readers “make one of every three book purchases a small-press book, if not more.”
"BUT HOW?" you might ask.
By joining WORD's Independent and Small Press Book Group, I say!
