When Obama said he was against gay marriage in 2006/2008 every single gay person I knew back then knew what the fuck he was doing. Are folks being willfully obtuse now, or are folks actually dumb?

There's an interesting Nietzschean angle to this delusion. The MAGA project is a return to Nietzsche's 'master morality' - we are the strongest, biggest, manliest, etc. The powerful should rule, might makes right. But deep inside, they want so badly to be persecuted. It's slave morality - even while declaiming how great and huge and masculine and powerful they are, they can't stop with delusions of how they're righteously persecuted. They are just little smol beans who the liberals are gonna bully and hurt. It's blessed are the meek, except the 'meek' are a bunch of alpha males weeping that a liberal they made up in their heads called them a name.
DOGE was a thing for like 6 months, and already the people involved are being dragged into tribunals – even while the GOP holds all branches of government. Dems will start killing people by firing squad in 2029 if our failure of a GOP doesn’t get serious.

1) yes, The Epstein Files have basically been true crime entertainment for six years 2) there’s no evidence or accusations of him trafficking toddlers, but people often need to pretend so in order to take the crimes seriously. Because what he actually did is groom teen girls for sex, and half the country aren’t quite sure it’s wrong for older men to pursue girls at “the most fertile age,” or if the concept of grooming even applies to heterosexuality

Kash Patel's performance as FBI director is exactly what we can expect from Pete Hegseth in a war, RFK jr. in a pandemic, or Tulsi Gabbard in a world where espionage exists.

The celebration of political violence is foolish and wicked; murder is heinous, but I will not be lectured on decorum by an American right whose chosen leader is Trump.

It's such an odd feeling that highly liberal writers are trying to tell me that Kirk was a guy who did politics the right way and sought honest engagement while Richard Hanania is going "nope he was a propagandist who didn't care about the truth at all"
Seems unpleasant to say it, but Michael Tracey is right. Charlie Kirk was a government propagandist. Now, in his defense, he was better than other right wing influencers who wished MAGA was even crazier. But we can’t recast him as someone who was genuinely seeking truth.

In a war, you will not be a superhero. Your home will burn, and your only constant companion will be grief. You and I are just another blood bag that can be taken out by a $1k drone from people miles away. Shut up and stop trying to get yourself and everyone's neighbors killed.

Hey, I've never played a video game before: does the government putting the leader's head on a giant banner mean he's the good guy?

one series of questions involves trivial queries that produce output that should strike the candidate as odd and lead him via exploration to discover issues in the inputs turns out you can't vibe code that obsessive instinct. and it's essential xitter.cf/nebnella/status/194626…

Just so we're clear, the violence Mandela took part in was targeting infrastructure. Killing was explicitly avoided and when it did happen (mostly due to poor training and rogue elements), the deaths were few and far between. He also supported Israel's right to exist btw woops
falsely claiming that nelson mandela never engaged in violence to end the apartheid is ahistorical nonsense. he was offered a commutation of his sentence if he disavowed violent resistance TWICE. he refused, extending his prison sentence TWICE.

This is actually a fantastic summation of Elon's approach to politics. He says "End the Fed!" with a smile on his face - not because he knows what it means, but because it's a meme phrase he's seen on Twitter. He "always wanted to say that'" His mind is shaped by memes, his only desire is to say the coolest memes in front of lots of people. "Why do we have so many people at the Fed? What do they do?" Crucially, he does not answer this question. He has no desire to provide an answer for his audience, and no real need to find the answer for himself. The question is simply tossed out as red meat, an excuse to stop thinking, with the assumption that the answer must be some form of deep state conspiracy.
Musk: End the fed! Oh, yeah, I always wanted to say that. I think there are 20,000 people who work at the fed. Why do we have so many people at the fed and what do they do?
