When my father was on his deathbed, he was received into the Catholic Church. I held his hand for 92 hours, without sleeping, which the doctor refused to believe as he said it was medically impossible. During that time I prayed not for his recovery, but for his salvation.
Others who loved him, who are protestant evangelicals, meanwhile prayed for his recovery. I believe I made the right choice, though I would dearly have liked him to have recovered. I have since taken the necessary steps required by the Church for his release from purgatory, and am condident that he is assured the beatific vision.

Friends, as Catholics, we have received an invitation from God the Father to come to the wedding banquet of his Son—to come to Mass and to share in the divine life.
And yet we know, through so many studies on church attendance, that countless Catholics say no to this invitation. This is the central tragedy of the spiritual life: receiving the invitation of the king and saying no.
Say yes this weekend. Go to Mass!

I've known @jamestalarico for nearly 20 years. When we were at @UTAustin in 2009, he ran the University Democrats and I ran the College Republicans. Although we disagreed, I once considered him a friend. But then he betrayed the entire student body for his own political gain.🧵

The right to life is the premier moral issue because all human rights depend upon the human person being alive. The right to life is the common ground for the morality of all issues considered in policies involving human dignity and the common good. @FWdiocese @TXCatholic
James Talarico worked to find common ground with one Texas voter who said she votes exclusively on the issue of abortion.
Talarico said that while he supports some abortion access, he said he wants to see fewer unplanned pregnancies and abortions overall, and that the issue should be viewed instead as a "public policy problem."

Please pray for Pope Leo.
It's also remarkable to consider that this unfortunate diagnosis was made on the Anniversary of Fatima's Miracle of the Sun.
Pope St. John Paul II was shot on Fatima's Feast day (May 13th, 1981). He emerged from his hospital stay after that much more devoted to Fatima and began working towards his Fatima Consecration which took place in 1984.
And of course, Pope Leo XIV is named after Pope Leo XIII. The latter's famous vision of Satan seeking to destroy the Church also took place on October 13th: exactly 33 years before the Miracle of the Sun, in 1884. After that, Leo XIII composed the St. Michael the Archangel prayer and ordered it to be prayed after Mass across the whole world. (Which we still should be doing.)
Considering the similarities, one wonders if Pope Leo's mission is likewise about to undergo some transformation.
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us, and may the Triumph of your Immaculate Heart be hastened

Talarico is very obviously just lying about what he supports in order to try and win an election.
We have his voting record and things he has said. He’s hoping people don’t understand these things.

Fr. Ripperger: “Keep your life simple & your conscience clear. Detach yourself from unnecessary things. Don't ever think certain venial sins are OK. Once you do, your life becomes more complicated. Don’t sin. And if you do sin get to confession so your conscience is clear again.”

The Pope's visit to France has rightly drawn attention to the horrors perpetrated by the French Revolution against the Catholic Church. I hope that the long term consequences of that revolution, including the revolutionary spirit behind some movements inside the Church, will now also come into focus.

Important discussion with Sebastien Lai. Jimmy Lai, his father, remains unjustly imprisoned by the Chinese Communist Party. He has been a powerful voice for basic freedoms and human rights. His sentence is for 20 years, which is effectively a life sentence.
It is imperative that we secure Jimmy’s release, and that the United States signals our commitment to securing it. Earlier this year, I drafted and secured unanimous Senate passage of a bipartisan resolution calling for his release and the release of other political prisoners held by the CCP.
President Xi will be in Washington next week. He should release Jimmy.
Until that happens, I will not stop fighting for his freedom and for holding the CCP accountable for his imprisonment.

Our 2026 Freedom Award recipient Jimmy Lai has spent nearly six years behind bars, much of it in solitary confinement, for exercising his fundamental freedoms.
As Xi Jinping arrives in Washington this week, Jimmy and the many others unjustly imprisoned in China and Hong Kong should not be forgotten. #FreeJimmyLai #FreeThemAll
"A word from Mr. Xi, and Mr. Lai could be on a plane the next day.
It would cost Mr. Xi nothing to free Mr. Lai, and it would prevent the international ignominy that is sure to follow if Mr. Lai dies in prison."
