With his groundbreaking 1973 book, The Plundered Past, Karl E. Meyer brought much needed attention to the growing crisis of cultural racketeering. As a journalist he also covered some of the most important stories of his lifetime. Our thoughts are with his family and friends…

Karl Meyer was one of the first to understand and publicize the damage caused by the trade in looted antiquities. We owe him a debt of gratitude.
