It was pure Nazi propaganda, with speeches attacking Jews, communists, and President Roosevelt. It was a grave mistake. Even today, there are still secret admirers of Hitler who wish he had prevailed in Europe. John F. Kelly, Trump’s former chief of staff, has publicly stated that Donald Trump privately said Adolf Hitler “did some good things.” In October 2024, Kelly told The New York Times that Trump “commented more than once that, ‘You know, Hitler did some good things, too.’” Later, he elaborated in an interview for CNN and in The Return of Great Powers, saying Trump specifically referred to “the rebuilding of the German economy” when he made that comment. Trump has consistently denied these accounts.
