#WATCH | Delhi | On meeting with LoP Rahul Gandhi, Telangana GIG And Platform Workers Union’s Founder President Shaik Salauddin says, "This delegation included drivers and delivery workers from the Indian Federation of App-Based Transport Workers, as well as employees of Urban Company. In Congress-ruled states, and even where we serve as the opposition, the election promises made to these workers have been acted upon... At the central level, the government is providing social-security schemes, but that is not a substitute for statutory law... There was a detailed discussion: over about half an hour the delegation described their problems one by one. We called on Congress governments in states where implementation has stalled to act promptly. We again congratulated Karnataka for being the first state to introduce a comprehensive law..." (06.02)

#WATCH | Delhi: App-based transport workers hold a protest at Jantar Mantar as gig unions call an all-India breakdown. Telangana GIG and Platform Workers Union’s Founder President, Shaik Salauddin, says, "We have two major demands from the Ministry of Transport and Nitin Gadkari. The Motor Vehicle Aggregator guidelines, 2025 state that you can drive non-commercial vehicles for platform companies. We are the taxpayers, but there is no exemption for us... We are demanding that the central government withdraw this and that state governments not implement it. Second demand pan India is that platform companies can decide the fares. This is unjust... Governments should decide fares for their states... This creates transparency and accountability... We have already written a letter to Nitin Gadkari and the Ministry of Transport... There was no response..."

🚨 Ola, Uber, Rapido rides may be disrupted on Feb 7 Gig worker unions, led by the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU), have called a nationwide strike, termed the “All India Breakdown” affecting app-based cabs, autos and bike taxis Drivers say there is no government-regulated fare structure, allowing platforms like Ola, Uber, Rapido and Porter to fix fares unilaterally, leading to income insecurity and poor working conditions In a letter to Union Minister @nitin_gadkari, the union has demanded implementation of the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines, 2025, notification of minimum base fares, and stricter rules on the use of private vehicles for commercial transport @rapidobikeapp @Olacabs @Uber_India

Can’t ignore gig workers. A strike, trolling & a government intervention later, what’s the future for India’s growing & exploited working class? From being a gig worker himself to raising their voice, hear @raghav_chadha on @TheFederal_News. #AIWithSanket youtu.be/aQkOiwIYpBA
