Line Change Details → Changing Through F3
F3 changing at the right time WITH possession in the offensive zone allow the opportunity to get fresh legs on the ice vs tired defenders and extend possession
Here the new F3 enters the zone unmarked and ice to support the high ice, provides relief for the D and creates a 3v2 advantage

Was a fantastic guy and gave me a start in hockey a long time ago. RIP Boots
The NHL Alumni Association is deeply saddened to learn that Paul Boutilier has passed away at the age of 63.
A defenseman, Paul played major junior hockey with the QMJHL’s Sherbrooke Castors beginning in 1980, and was selected by the New York Islanders in the first round of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. Paul made his NHL debut later that year, skating in his first career game on October 31, 1981, with the Islanders at the Montreal Forum, later returning to Sherbrooke for the remainder of the season.
Paul split time between the NHL and the QMJHL during the 1982-83 season, appearing in 29 games for the Islanders, and scored his first NHL goal on November 18, 1982, at home at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Playing in his final season of major junior hockey, Paul served as team captain for the newly relocated Saint-Jean Castors. Paul joined the Islanders for the 1983 Stanley Cup Playoffs, appearing in two games as the Islanders captured the final of their four consecutive Stanley Cups.
After 213 regular-season games with the Islanders from 1981 to 1986, Paul would go on to play for the Boston Bruins and Minnesota North Stars the following season, and later for the New York Rangers and Winnipeg Jets, respectively.
From Sydney, Nova Scotia, Paul returned to his home province after the conclusion of his playing career, accepting a position as an assistant coach for Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, serving in the role from 1991 to 1993 before being promoted to head coach, a position he held until 1997.
With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Paul later served in a multitude of coaching and front office positions across the collegiate, junior, and professional levels of hockey.
Internationally, Paul proudly represented Canada on multiple occasions and at both the junior and senior levels, highlighted by a gold medal at the 1982 World Junior Hockey Championships.
We send our deepest condolences to Paul’s family, friends, and former teammates during this incredibly difficult time.

Hockey Parents - I just did a bit of a deep dive into the marketing of AAA organizations for their mite programs.
So many in their marketing are touting player advancement, playing against elite competition, and elite development on ice/skills/off ice, etc...
A few even bragged about Brick commitments. Comical.
Only a select few had any mention of a development of a passion for the game, a love for the game, fun, things that actually matter at that age. Let's be clear, we are talking about 6-8 year olds.
I see this kind of marketing and I think three things:
1. These people have NO IDEA what actual development looks like.
2. They know what development looks like, but only care about $$$.
3. They know what development looks like, but out of fear, ego, or because everyone else is doing it they feel like they have to.
I have an 8 year old so this hits a little closer to home for me. I also get messages and notes from parents all over North America on this stuff.
I'll just say it as upfront as I can - this mentality is ruining our amazing game. The FOMO it creates for parents at that age pushes them to other sports. The cost it forces parents at that age to put up pushes them to other sports. The stress it puts on blue collar families continues to rise - pushing great people and great families to other sports. That's the reality we continue to push towards if this mentality continues to spread.
Parents - there's no need. There's no such thing as "ELITE" at that age - whether it's a kid or a program. Take a breath. Trust your gut and best common sense judgment. You know your kid best and what they need on their journey. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

A fun morning on the ice with Team Ireland U13 and U15 teams today helping them get ready for the @SEDMHA tournament.
Great to see all the players and coaches again this year! Good luck @IIHA

The amount of sharpening players and parents do now, it’s a no brainer.
Watch Josh Anderson’s reaction on the bench. He was wearing cut resistant socks that protected him from a career and life threatening injury from a skate laceration. I will continue to plead with all hockey players from all levels to prioritize safety & protect yourselves by wearing cut resistant apparel. 🙏 @daredevilhockey
