Dear Minnesotans, You do not have to tolerate the lies, the gaslighting, the insults, or the propaganda. Somali is not a race. It is a nationality, an ethnicity, a language, and a clan system. Naming twelve Somali sets is not a race war. It is a description police and a sheriff already made. Fletcher counted about three hundred people, fourteen dead, and more than a hundred shootings in two years. Eden Prairie called the homecoming gang-related. Bloomington tied a hundred rounds to Somali gang retaliation. The attorney general sued Muddy and The Ville. A judge found three men were Muddy. An 18-year-old born here to Somali parents was charged for taking a rifle and 200 rounds for a planned attack at the Mall of America. None of that is a skin color. Treating the description as racism is the category error the cover needs. Calling out the violent criminal activity is not bigotry. A quarter of a billion dollars in Feeding Our Future and the related cases. Eighty charged. A former mayoral aide sentenced for $1.66 million. A nonprofit ordered to repay $1.1 million whose director then briefed the press that the shootings are a gun problem. Female genital mutilation near 98 percent at home and zero prosecutions here. More than twenty Minneapolis men gone to al-Shabaab. That is a file. The bigotry is pretending the file is a smear of one hundred thousand people. Confronting the threats is not dangerous rhetoric. The dangerous rhetoric is the un-naming. Hassan Jama said stop calling them gangs. Yusuf Abdulle said there is no Somali gang, it is an American problem. Abdirahman Abdi said don’t mention the Somali name. Hovland said concentrate on conduct, not culture, ethnicity, religion, or country of origin. Ellison called the noticing hate, then told a radio host that if they try to take our vote away we should be in the street and he will be out there with everybody else. The chyrons called the sentence inflammatory and the potential violence. The casings were already on the pavement. Telling people to stop tolerating these behaviors is not a call for violence. It is a call to name the set, cut the money, and stop invoicing the suburbs for an institution that traveled. Clan. Xeer. A creed that does not yield. Three hundred is not one hundred thousand. The citizens under the fire and the taxpayers under the invoice are the ones being abandoned by the script. You do not have to submit to it. Name the set. The gaslight ends when the lead is the rounds, not the complaint that the rounds were mentioned.
