Great news for #BlenderBIM users!
You can now tap into the buildingSMART Data Dictionary (#bSDD) directly from #BlenderBIM.

The @FreeCADNews Project Association has a grant program for developers, but they want to improve it. So they asked me to research best practices and come up with actionable recommendations. That research is now public

🎓 I've created a new educational platform.
🎥 The platform currently gathers the free courses I teach on Youtube , about IfcOpenshell and BlenderBIM
💼Paid Courses with student support are also coming soon!

Yes. Go #OpenBIM. Go #OpenSource. A huge thank you to @CyrilWaechter BIM Insight for their generous $2,000 donation to further develop mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and fire modeling in #IfcOpenShell and the #BlenderBIM Add-on. biminsight.ch/ opencollective.com/opensourc…
Honoured and excited to receive this grant for further integration of BIM and GIS visualization
Interoperability and long-term data usage are recurring themes in my work. This grant supports next steps for a powerful @CesiumJS + ifcopenshell integration!

Congratulations to the latest Cesium Ecosystem Grant recipients!
We're excited to support the Spatial Opportunity Lab at @wentworthinst; @jasonbeverage for Cesium Native into @osgearth; and @aothms's IFC Tiling Pipeline.

Yes. Go #OpenBIM. Go #OpenSource. Did you know that #FreeSoftware #IfcOpenShell can create geometry trees? A geometry tree lets you efficiently select objects by XYZ coordinates or bounding boxes. Read more here blenderbim.org/docs-python/i…

Yes. Go #OpenBIM. Go #OpenSource. Did you know that the #FreeSoftware #IfcOpenShell lets you either import, export, change version, or reserialise IFC data to dozens of formats? Work with #NativeIFC through #JSON, #DataFrames, #SQLite, and more.
The number of monthly unique contributors to github.com/IfcOpenShell/IfcO… keeps increasing. Join in on the fun! Let's aim for a new record for June 2023.

Thrilled to have contributed to the major update of the @buildingSMARTIn Validation Service! It's rewarding to see our efforts come to fruition 🏗️🏡
validate.buildingsmart.org just received a major update
Validates your models wrt:
- syntax
- schema (incl where rules and functions)
- additional rules
- consistency with bsdd
Valid and reliable data is the cornerstone of our industry.

Yes. Go #OpenBIM. Go #OpenSource. Watch a short demo of #NativeIFC architectural modeling and drawing with the #BlenderBIM Add-on. Slowly getting closer to being able to replace proprietary BIM tools for small scale projects.

#Revit 2024 new feature list is probably as long as @BlenderBIM new commits on github from last week.
Over the past years, IFC has become geometrically more simple and explicit.
IfcOpenShell, sitting on a heavy geometry kernel, was late to adapt to that.
But here we are now, conversion time is decimated for explicit ReferenceView models.
Read on below.
CGAL: Polyhedral format, no curved surfaces. Algorithms simpler due to exact number types. Number type is compile-time parametric. E.g arbitrarily precise binary trees of operands or machine native double (latter not robust for boolean operations; cgal-simple in IfcOpenShell).
