Absolutely need to have some of these suggested restrain the frontier development and use of AI 👏
I was invited to address the @UN Security Council this afternoon to discuss the unprecedented threat posed by uncontrolled frontier AI agents.
Humanity has summoned the courage and wisdom to manage catastrophic risks before. This is one of those moments, far bigger than any personal, commercial, or national interest. The choices we make about this technology today will shape generations to come. We must act now.

Canada welcomes that the U.S. is now withdrawing its positions on discoverability and labelling and is confirming that measures to promote French language and Canadian culture will not be subject to future U.S. trade actions.
We look forward to further constructive U.S. clarifications on their other positions which would create the possibility of a mutually beneficial trade agreement that respects Canadian sovereignty.

Just spoke to the BBC about the demand for ice rinks in the UK - piece out next week.
The mainstream media's intrigue in the sport is getting less absurd each time they look at the sport - from the ridiculous FT article about why women follow ice hockey, then to the potential 'spike in interest' from Heated Rivalry, now finally true journalism about something that matters.
Waiting lists at nearly all clubs. Many hours of travel just to train. 2million tickets sold annually to league/cup fixtures. Biggest indoor sport in the country (by a long way).
The sport has grown quietly, well-past the current infrastructure available. This is not just a supply and demand issue that will 'go away'.

We asked people around the world to rate the morality and ethics of others in their country.
The U.S. is the only place we surveyed where more adults describe the morality and ethics of others living in the country as bad than good. See our full morality report here: pewresearch.org/religion/202…

Today, 200 Ukrainian families received the most-awaited message – their loved ones are coming home. And this is always good news for all of us, for the entire country: the return of our people to their homeland. Among those returning are defenders of Mariupol, and of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Warriors of the Armed Forces, the State Special Transport Service, border guards, and National Guard personnel.
Every time our people come home, it proves that Ukraine is working to bring everyone back. No one is forgotten. We involve mediators. I am grateful to everyone who helps Ukraine. I thank the United States for its support in making this exchange possible. I am grateful to all our warriors who are replenishing Ukraine's exchange fund on the front lines. The return of our people home is the result of the strength of Ukrainian defenders.

But he has already won.
The world saw the names of Ukrainian athletes killed by Russia. And the hypocrisy of those who claim to stand for peace.
You can ban us from the track.
You cannot silence Ukraine.

Prime Minister Carney on Václav Havel's "The Power of the Powerless" and the current world order.

Remarkable speech from @MarkJCarney, urging allies to stop playing along with great-power intimidation. Compliance won’t buy safety, he warns. Stop appeasing bullies. Carney draws applause.
Citing Václav Havel, he says it’s "time for companies and countries to take their signs down." Under communism, ordinary people displayed slogans like "Workers of the world, unite!" even when they didn’t believe them, rituals of compliance meant to avoid trouble. Coercion, Havel argued, wasn’t always enforced through violence, but through quiet, everyday participation in a lie.
Carney receives a standing ovation at the end of his speech.
Extraordinary to see Canada asserting this kind of moral and strategic leadership, something we haven’t witnessed on the world stage in decades, especially at a moment when we have so much to lose if Trump chooses retaliation.
