Ten fire deaths in two New York City fires in a little over a week. - Have an escape plan and practice it. - Close the door behind you when escaping a fire. - Charge and store lithium-ion batteries outside, where possible. Be safe, NYC.
Just after 1:30 a.m. Thursday, the FDNY responded to 653 58th Street in Brooklyn for a fire that was reported by nearby residents. Units arrived in approximately three minutes. Six people died in this fire—four were pronounced dead at the scene and two others died after being transported to area hospitals. "Upon arrival, we had fire on every floor—cellar, first and second floors—fire blowing out every window, meeting us at the front door," Chief of Fire Operations Kevin Woods said. "Our units moved in very aggressively, getting a hoseline on each one of those floors for a very, very quick knockdown." FDNY members rescued victims trapped on the first floor in the rear of the home behind window bars. There was also a partial collapse of a staircase inside the home. Additionally, there were injuries to four other civilians, three firefighters and two police officers. Seventy-four units, totaling 231 fire and EMS personnel, responded to the 3-alarm fire. The fire was placed under control at about 4:30 a.m. The cause remains under investigation by FDNY Fire Marshals.

The bookmakers’ odds are trending toward Unai Emery. The question is will #MUFC pay Aston Villa would require and allow Emery to have the control he wants (they should and should sack Wilcox).

Hmmmm. As of Tuesday afternoon. #MUFC

There is ZERO reason Maguire and Martinez should be playing CB the rest of the season. It’s already written off, they’re gone in the summer, so let the younger guys build experienced. It’s ridiculous. #MUFC

If you have to pay for Eddie, you try and convince Emery and pay for him. If not, looks like the options are down to keeping Carrick, Nagelsmann or Conte. #MUFC

If @ManUtd needs a crisis comms consultant (they very clearly do), my DMs are open. #MUFC

But ... why would you want to do this?
Has anyone here walked from JFK Airport to Manhattan? If you did this walk, which would be the most interesting route?

It’s remarkable how @ManUtd’s owners haven’t seen the perpetual circus the club has become, literally season after season, and haven’t thought, “Hmm, yeah, we might be the problem.” Egoistical no-shows.

I keep seeing tweets that the current squad is suited for Julian Nagelsmann's 4-2-2-2 setup. How so? Diogo Dalot is the most "dynamic" fullback #MUFC has, and that's being generous. His final-third product is woeful.

Yeah, this United team might be the worst team in the league. I don’t care if Conte lasts 12 months, the board better do something before they find themselves in serious trouble. This is disgraceful run of matches.

Needed to happen. #MUFC
EXC: Bruno Fernandes dropped to the bench by Michael Carrick for Bournemouth visit. #MUFC head coach aiming to turn around team’s results in a pivotal moment for him. Fernandes, out of form, criticised tactics in Como. Details ⬇️ nytimes.com/athletic/7722277…

Tottenham, winless in their first six matches, above #MUFC in the table now. But yeah, let’s talk about history.

Based on Carrick’s comments today vs. Bruno’s after Como—and Bruno’s form—he shouldn’t start this weekend. #MUFC
🚨🎙️ | Michael Carrick: “Como was a bad night. It hurt me. It was really unacceptable. “My job is to put a team on the pitch that represents the supporters and that they can be proud of the identity we show. “We have gone away from that recently in certain games which I am fully aware of and definitely doing something about.”

If #MUFC brings in Eddie Howe, what does that mean for Lewis Hall in the summer? 👀🤔

Protecting life and property in New York City every single day. 👏🏼
🔺 HIGH-ANGLE TECHNICAL RESCUE At about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, the FDNY responded to 3 World Trade Center in Manhattan, where five people were trapped in an elevator inside a blind shaft near the 32nd floor. With no direct access to the elevator car, two firefighters—one from Rescue 1 and one from Squad 18—entered the blind shaft at the 47th floor and were lowered approximately 175 feet to reach the trapped occupants. The two firefighters, assisted by members from Engine 10 and Ladder 10, brought one civilian to safety, ascending back up the 175 feet via rope. After the initial high-angle technical rescue, members were able to gain access to the elevator car by breaching a wall in a bathroom on the 32nd floor and removed the four remaining individuals. One civilian and two firefighters suffered minor injuries. This is the specialized training, technical expertise and teamwork FDNY members bring to the most challenging emergencies in New York City.

Michael Carrick will manage #MUFC at the weekend vs. Bournemouth because it’s clear there’s no alternate plan. United need a win—not to save Carrick’s job, but because they desperately need three points. Does the head coach drop Bruno? He should (and not just because of the post-match comments on Wednesday night). Big calls to be made over the next week for many people at the club.

Tactics and formations matter in football, yes. But speed and athleticism play such a huge role in the modern game. PSG has speed in so many positions. Look at #MUFC - Baleba's injection into the team has already made a difference. Need to replace the likes of Maguire, Martinez, Shaw, etc., to continue to raise that floor.

“Biggest revenues” in world football but can’t sell out a home #UCL match vs. PSG. Right. 😂

How is Liam Coen not going ballistic on the sidelines? @NFL refs are largely awful, but this is on another level.
