💔Aravallis in 10000 acres of safari park are extremely degraded as a result of illegal mining going on despite SC ban. What this region needs is ecological restoration, not more construction in garb of tourism @byadavbjp @cmohry #AravalliUnderThreat #NoZooInAravallis #SaveNCR

New research indicates that we are not the only conscious beings on this planet…
Groundbreaking botanical research challenges human exceptionalism, suggesting that the trillions of trees and plants surrounding us possess spatial awareness, intentionality, and a form of consciousness.
Historically, humans have viewed plants as passive background scenery, but a series of compelling scientific studies is flipping this anthropocentric script. According to plant neurobiologist Dr. Stefano Mancuso, plants exhibit behaviors that closely mirror conscious animal action. In laboratory experiments, scientists observed that plants respond to anesthesia in the exact same manner as humans, with species like the Venus Flytrap becoming completely nonresponsive. Furthermore, time-lapse research shows bean plants demonstrating remarkable spatial awareness and intentionality, aiming their shoots to hook onto physical supports and even altering their growth strategy if they detect a competitor has reached a support first.
These findings suggest that consciousness is not a biological trait exclusive to organisms with brains, but rather a flexible phenomenon that can thrive in very different life forms. As trees globally migrate northward to escape warming climates—resembling animal migration patterns—researchers argue that our concept of 'mind' must expand. With over three trillion trees on Earth, recognizing plant consciousness could fundamentally reshape our ethical systems, agricultural practices, and relationship with the natural world. Instead of treating the environment as inert raw material, we may have to start viewing plant communities as active, aware partners in a shared ecosystem.

Satellite images expose a horrifying truth: The catastrophic Nazira #Floods are not a natural calamity, but a meticulously engineered man-made disaster driven by unchecked sand, stone, and coal mafias! 🚨
If you compare the satellite imagery of the region from 2010 to 2024, the reality is stark and undeniable. The once lush green banks and natural courses of the Dikhow River have been mercilessly excavated and transformed into cratered wastelands. This rampant, unchecked plundering of our natural resources is the direct root cause of the current devastation in Nazira, #Sivasagar #Charaideo #Jorhat etc. I have relentlessly warned this #BJPGovernment and fought against this impending doom for years, but they chose to protect the syndicates over our citizens.
I approached the Hon'ble Gauhati High Court and filed a PIL (PIL 62/2019) against the rampant #illegalmining on the Dikhow river banks. On October 21, 2019, the High Court expected the Government to form a "Mines & Minerals Task Force Battalion" within three months to stop this menace. Despite clear judicial directives, the #AssamGovernment shamelessly admitted on the floor of the Assembly on December 22, 2021, that the formation of this 200-member Task Force was still merely "under process." I raised this issue again in the March 2022 #Assembly session, demanding to know what concrete steps were taken to stop the illegal trade of forest and mineral resources as per the High Court's directives.
Following my persistent complaints, on January 12, 2022, the Assistant Executive Engineer (Water Resources, Nazira Sub-division) inspected the illegal mining sites near Bamunphukhuri Tea Estate and Santak. He gave a stark, written warning that continued #excavation would alter the river's course and bring massive devastation. The #BJP Government buried this report to protect the mafias. Most recently, on June 15, 2024, I wrote directly to the Environment & Forest Minister, explicitly warning about the imminent threat of the Dikhow River altering its course due to this unabated illegal mining and the existential devastation it would cause.
But all the stark warnings were deliberately ignored. The people of Nazira are now paying the ultimate price—losing their homes, their livelihoods, and their loved ones—because of this unholy nexus between the #Government and the mining mafias. #AssamFloods #Assam #Disaster

Congress? The worst of Congress is 1000 times better than BJP and Modi. At least those guys have shame and accountability. During Congress time, if some minister was caught doing corruption, then he had to resign and PM himself answered questions. All the problems at least got answers and explanation unlike today. Modi doesn't even acknowledge any issue. Forget about resignation.

A foreign tourist had to confront an Indian for littering today. Imagine visiting a country and ending up teaching locals not to throw garbage in such a beautiful and fragile ecosystem. What a shame. At the pace we’re going, it feels like it’ll take another 100 years for people to learn this basic civic sense.

If we can waive road tax, we can also invest in clean freight infrastructure. Trucks move @ 70% of India's freight but are among biggest contributors to transport pollution. Hoping this policy accelerates real transition, not just replacement with another generation of vehicles.
NCR states to full road tax waiver under Parivartan scheme in Delhi-NCR while buying new BS-VI trucks or buses or those on cleaner fuels after scrapping old ones. OEMs to offer 8% discount in prices. My report in @timesofindia

In this extreme heat, let us also remember the birds and animals around us. A small bowl of water kept outside your home, balconies, terraces, shops or offices can become a lifeline for a thirsty bird. May compassion guide us in these difficult days.
