I’d super appreciate if people read this thread and reposted this because I never see this being discussed even though it is VERY important. Grooming and abuse is not always sexual in nature and we NEED to talk about other forms of it especially how easily it happens online

I want to expand on the “not appropriate for them” part because a lot of people don’t realize that emotional vulnerability from an older party can be an abusive dynamic when imposed upon a younger person, specifically when it includes hashing out drama or suicidal ideation

If you are an adult and you engage with a minor in any way that is NSFW or not appropriate for them (even if they proposition you first), you are abusing them. Abuse. That is ab-use. It is your responsibility as the adult to SHUT THAT DOWN

It’s not that adults and minors can’t be acquaintances or that you shouldn’t be friendly with them but a minor should never be given the same emotional burden that you may give to someone your own age in a reciprocal friendship. By definition age gap friendships cannot be-

-reciprocal in the same way that a friendship in your age group can be. Be cautious and keep this in mind. I know this isn’t usually intentional but it is still an oversight and puts a lot of stress on minors. If you care about minors you will keep them out of your adult business

It does not matter if the NSFW media or conversation is “low on the NSFW scale,” it does not matter if it is for just a moment, it does not matter if you suck at social cues. You do NOT discuss NSFW with MINORS. You exercise CAUTION when discussing certain topics with an age gap
