When gov.uk was launched in the UK in 2012 it was world leading. Before that every dept had a separate website, information was fragmented and interacting with any govt service was painful. Since then progress has near stalled. We need another push and I have no doubt that this from the US will show us what interacting with govt should look like in a world with AI. Onwards 🖥️↗️
EXCLUSIVE: The Trump administration is set to launch America.gov, a new AI-powered tool designed to be a "one-stop shop" for Americans navigating the federal government, replacing what officials describe as a maze of scattered agency websites. President Trump and Vice President Vance will unveil the platform Tuesday at an all-day event in Washington featuring Elon Musk, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Dr. Mehmet Oz. The event will also include panels on AI, energy, health, space, and agriculture. The tool was built by the National Design Studio, led by AirBnB cofounder Joe Gebbia — the first-ever Chief Design Officer of the United States — who told Fox News Digital the launch marks a "new chapter of usability for the country." 25 years on and the the pictures and videos still cause a well up of emotion. Sadness for the dead. And anger towards those who perpetrated that most awful act. History was changed forever. Never forget.

This was Andy Burnham in 2022 when Rishi became Prime Minister. I assume, being a man of great principle and consistency, he will honour his own demands this time round.

The problem with Starmer resigning is that the alternatives both for PM, and every Government role below that, are just as bad. Labour are trying to frame this as a fresh start but it will be anything but.

So cool! If the NHS had anything about it, they’d be speaking to Midjourney now to look at how they build a deep partnership. Test the technology at scale. Roll it out. Offer it far and wide. This could be transformative for preventative medicine. But will it take the leap

Faced with a choice between a Defence Secretary who wanted to spend more on our armed forces, a Chancellor who wouldn’t, and an Attorney General who enjoys suing them, the Prime Minister decided he could do without … the Defence Secretary.

Too many politicians stand up and say that defence of the nation is the first priority of any government. They’re right to say it. But they should mean it. And think through what it has to mean in practice. John Healey clearly gets it. Starmer and Reeves do not, and our country is weaker because of it. This is the time Labour backbenchers should work with opposition benches to insist that the Chancellor attends the Commons and explains why she is pushing Defence to accept a number she knows is below what the nation needs it to be to guarantee our security and prosperity. And the PM should be accountable for his own weaknesses in being unable to secure the right amount.

A top class appointment by @iealondon. Can’t wait to see the research and thought leadership coming out under @DanielJHannan’s leadership. “We must convince people that there’s no such thing as a free lunch. I’m on it” telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/04…

The idea that ministers' LLM usage is FOI-able is insane. Government should have contested this way more strongly. Clearly should have fallen under the policy development exemption, otherwise we more or less guarantee no minister will use AI at a time that adoption is key!

Also, @miriam_cates is just thoroughly decent, whilst also being fierce in her views.
The rise and rise of @miriam_cates, the real winner of @andytwelves vs @GoodwinMJ. From @danwootton to @stuzi_pants… Near-universal acclaim for the MP-turned-broadcaster’s assured chairing of last night’s debate on @GBNEWS. A star is born?

What a transformation! I visited El Salvador back in 2017 and the country I remember is what’s shown as the past. When people say politics doesn’t make a difference show them this. Because this is what it can do when done right. Bravo 👏

You don’t have a right not to be offended. That is a basic tenant of free speech. The govt should just say “this is clearly offensive and we would question why some people would want to use AI to generate such content, but it is not a legal issue.” If anyone thinks this is what government should be talking about / doing something about, they have missed the mess the country is in, and what we need to be doing in the AI space. news.sky.com/story/grok-post…

It was never going to go to the ME. We have an actual airfield we can use (Cyprus) so this would have been symbolic anyway. Plus it has been tasked with going to the High North. Silly for govt to have floated this as a possibility. Just focus on getting T45 there for air def.

Not only is this a very good idea, but take a look at the website - definitely a case of people learning from the Trump administration and how to communicate govt programmes. Hope this doesn’t become another policy that gets announced and goes nowhere…

Whoever thought this was a good idea, and every MP in attendance, needs a serious check with themselves. Parliament should be a place of serious work, with serious people.

This is the result of putting a human rights lawyer who defended terrorists in Downing Street. And he in turn put his human rights lawyer mate in the role as Attorney General, just to make extra sure we project moral weakness.
Sir Keir Starmer hedges his response on Iran - neither criticising nor endorsing the US Israel action The backdrop is Britain’s refusal to allow the US to use Diego Garcia or RAF Fairford as part of the operations amid concerns that doing so would breach international law A government spokesman said: “Iran must never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon and that is why we have continually supported efforts to reach a negotiated solution.   “Our immediate priority is the safety of UK nationals in the region and we will provide them with consular assistance, available 24/7.   “As part of our longstanding commitments to the security of our allies in the Middle East, we have a range of defensive capabilities in the region, which we have recently bolstered. We stand ready to protect our interests.   “We do not want to see further escalation into a wider regional conflict.”

This is so terribly weak. “The UK played no role” just about sums up this Government. And as for his calls for a diplomatic solution, it is totally vacuous. Iran is not, and never has been, looking for a diplomatic solution.

How is it possible that the UK Government has still not issued a statement backing US military action in Iran… It’s not like this action came as a surprise to anyone. Plenty of time to come to a view.
