Imagine if you needed a billionaire’s permission to build a website.
The internet changed humanity because its standards were open. Anyone could publish. Anyone could build. Anyone could challenge the powerful.
AI could multiply that freedom beyond anything we’ve experienced. Yet access to many of its most powerful systems is controlled by corporations that set the prices, rules, and restrictions.
The internet liberated information from its gatekeepers.
Are we really going to let the next generation of gatekeepers own the tools that turn information into power?

Great to have @RoKhanna join me at Michigan State today for an AMA with students.
Rep. Khanna has been a leader in releasing the Epstein files, challenging the Iran War, and working for a 21st century New Deal. I’m looking forward to building an affordable future alongside him.

The “madness” in question being a Muslim man who opposes genocide.
For me, the only dignified choice is to leave the Senate race blank—an undervote representing a rejection of ideological absolutism. This makes me no less a Democrat. I refuse to be complicit in excusing or accepting extremism to beat extremism. The madness has to stop somewhere.

Silicon Valley may have invented the startup’s replacement.
The personal computer broke computing out of institutions. Napster bypassed record labels. YouTube gave anyone a broadcasting network.
AI is coming for the institution Silicon Valley never thought to disrupt: the startup itself.
Engineers, designers, investors, payroll. The machinery that once stood between an idea and a product is becoming optional. And the gatekeepers are scrambling to become indispensable again.
For fifty years, we’ve wondered where the next Silicon Valley would emerge.
What if the real revolution is a world that no longer needs one?
AI is comically great at removing the gates that make money for the gatekeepers. $ADBE for instance, has dropped 28% — I’m sure it has nothing to do with the AI clone that dropped a few weeks ago for free.
People are using AI to make their smart TVs dumb again techcrunch.com/2026/10/19/pe…
A Black MAGA influencer drove two hours to support Ken Paxton. She’d campaigned for Trump, promoted Republicans, and built an audience defending the party. She says his campaign had her escorted out. Nobody told her why.
There’s something unsettling about a political movement so consumed with identifying outsiders that even its own supporters can end up outside the door.
I keep thinking about Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood. Fred Rogers taught generations of Americans to welcome their neighbors.
Mike Rogers’ Michigan is a neighborhood I wouldn’t feel safe walking through.
If even loyalty can’t guarantee a welcome, what chance does difference have?
James attributes his extraordinary life to divine opportunity; the public question is what opportunities government can make available to ordinary children.
Then there’s the question of Mr. Rogers and his endless racist rhetoric in a contest where the candidates are diverse almost to a fault.

Western liberals imported the third world into France and other countries in the name of diversity and compassion. They ignored fundamental questions of assimilation and compatibility. They were told it would lead to this and they didn't listen.
I pray that France, a beautiful country of amazing people, will stop this madness before more of its landmarks burn.
And I hope Americans are paying attention. This is the future congressional Democrats seek for your country.

This man, @mrddmia, who is suggesting I be shot, was in the mix to be President Trump's next Attorney General after he fired Pam Bondi for not prosecuting more of his political opponents. He is now at a MAGA dark money group, mobilizing death threats against me and my staff for sport.
This shouldn’t be controversial: if you aid in stealing taxpayer money or directing it to enrich President Trump or his family, then you should be held accountable for that crime. That’s what I said, and I stand by it.
And if you use the justice system for frivolous lawsuits used to intimidate and jail your political opponents, you should be held accountable for that via your bar status. No abuse of power and not violating the law? Then we have no problem.
We know most Republican politicians are desperate to change the topic from their failing agenda. That’s how this kind of coordinated right-wing media play works. The threats and intimidation — of me, my staff, and my family — *are the point* of this kind of play. This dude and so many others are just hoping that we'll shut up in response.
Not going to happen.

Remember A Day Without a Mexican? In 2004, it was satire. Twenty-two years later, American farmers are getting a preview.
ICE raids have already driven workers away from California fields. Crops went unpicked. Farmers warned they couldn’t replace the labor.
For decades, Republicans told Americans to fear the immigrants coming across the border.
Nobody warned Americans what would happen when they stopped coming.

Mike Rogers on why he decided to run for Senate again:
“You gotta be really nuts to do it a second time. But when the President called and said, ‘Mike, I need you to do this. I need you in the Senate…’ I said, "Mr. President, we're all in. We're going to do this." #MISen

It’s a pretty special thing to say in a moment when we are on the brink of a global meltdown.
James Carville says he'd rather have Republicans keep control of the House than Democrats winning the chamber by 5 seats.
"I would rather the Republicans keep the House by five than the Democrats win by five, because if that happens, they’re hostage to the DSA. Like, Hakeem cannot move. There’s no place for him to go."
