Check our paper on #GARRN The Global #Anthropause #Raptor #Research Network. We outline why raptors are exceptionally well suited to address effects of #COVID19 related #lockdowns and how gained knowledge can be used to inform global #conservation efforts: sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Urgency in conservation and the need for informed decision making asks for further lowering barriers (financial, institutional and bureaucratic). MoveApps is intended to allow to create, share and improve transparent data to knowledge pipelines. s.gwdg.de/gGHl11

Great presentation by @CJWMcClure @peregrinefund #BOUsci21 outlining how the Global Raptor Impact Network GRIN is working with the Global Anthropause Raptor Research Network GARRN & the Raptor sub-project of the Covid-19 @biologging Initiative. Together for raptor conservation!
1/6 Over half of raptor species are declining, nearly a third face extinction, and 17 are Critically Endangered. We must collaborate to meet new challenges. The Global Raptor Impact Network provides the tools to monitor global raptor populations. #BOUsci21 #SESH3 @peregrinefund

Very relevant paper @ELSenviron Biological Conservation lead by @AmandaEBates with contributions @Fitztitute & @KLF_UniVienna showing that Red-winged starlings were consistently lighter during #lockdowns than during years before, presumably due to less human #junkfood in diet!
Our paper with 348 co-authors quantifying responses in wildlife is finally out in Biological Conservation! I am so proud of all these authors, working as a team, to present a global view of nature and conservation during the initial lockdown. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

I've now added Peregrine to the popular composite I posted last year from my own images! Also scaled the wingspans but that's a bit subjective. L>R male Sparrowhawk, male Kestrel, Hobby & male Peregrine. @birdsofprey_uk

The Global Anthropause Raptor Research Network teamed up with #Raptor Sub-Project of @biologging to understand #movement, activity & displacement responses. We will take these patterns further and link them to fitness outcomes: to understand how humans influence raptor demography

The #anthropause created #research opportunity to disentangle effects of human #footprint (=infrastructure) from those of human (#recreational) activity and to understand impacts on #raptor populations. We from #GARRN are gathering relevant data to conduct global-scale analyses.
