My colleagues @anthonydb and Peter Santilli broke Warsh's forecasts as a Fed governor down into this data visualization that evaluates his outlook against his FOMC peers from that time.
Relative to his colleagues, they show a policymaker who grew steadily less optimistic about the economy's productive capacity in the years after the financial crisis. Warsh was less likely than his peers to view high unemployment as slack that would hold down prices.
By his final meetings he thought the economy couldn't sustainably employ as many people as before—a floor he put near 6.2% unemployment, well above where his colleagues had it.
The forecasts offer an account of how the current Fed chair, who has been reluctant to spell out how he reads the economy, approached a period of upheaval.
