People are calling this dogshit now but this is exactly what Art Angels sounds like and that topped year-end lists in 2015. Encapsulates the vibe shift from the techno-optimism of the 2010s to the techno-doomerism of the 2020s

there is a certain personality type which will play Civilization or Factorio 14 hours a day pausing only to sleep and microwave food. this type can be absurdly economically productive if you can take the games away, give him a job, and get him to think of it as a videogame

The Collin county I grew up in would not vote for James Talarico. Is what it is
Let me go ahead and warn you. If you’re emotionally invested in the TX Senate race, you are in for at least a few solid days of gaslighting, doom, and negativity. Closely manage your mutes and blocks and pay attention to where the votes are coming from. The attached is a map I’ve made describing the county dispositions of Texas. They are indisputable. There are Essentially five county types in the modern state. Original MAGAverse (Crimson) - based on where even the great O’Rourke was unable to penetrate in 2018, and on a long string of real results, these counties pile up massive margins. Every batch of votes here is good for the GOP ticket, and the idea is to run up turnout. The last time Texans were afraid of a Democrat win (2018), many of these counties produced 85-90% of their 2016 presidential vote count. Regular Red (Pink) - these counties are going to be Republican wins, but they will likely give back some presidential margin. Montgomery and Brazoria are the largest in this group. High turnout here is still good for Paxton. Big Blue Four (Blue) - Democrats have to max out these counties and get huge margins. Harris (Houston), Dallas, Bexar (San Antonio), and Travis (Austin). The media will focus on “record breaking” turnout in these. Dallas will probably give Talarico trouble mobilizing the black vote, as well as Houston. San Antonio and Harris will probably show improvement from 2016-18 for Paxton with working-class Latinos. Every batch of votes from Travis is only good for Talarico. Slipperies (Purple) - These counties had big movement for O’Rourke in 2018. I think Paxton will win two of them, so the mission here is margin control. Talarico needs to move these a lot and will want to flip Collin. New Trumpian Empire (Yellow) - South and West Texas. More than 300,000 total presidential margin moved in these from 2016 to 2024. Talarico will lose a lot of O’Rourke’s raw margin in El Paso County. The increase of GOP support with Hispanic voters was not something the O’Rourke campaign had to worry about in 2018 and is being discounted this year. In a nutshell- In order to win, this is what Talarico needs: *Poor turnout in the crimson *Party turncoats in the pinks *Massive surge to polls in the blues *Betomania in the purples *Massive reversion of the Latino vote in the yellows, back to 2016 presidential level And THAT would be enough for a TILT margin. If the crimson votes in big numbers, the yellow will offset the purples and blues.

The fact that Geese and Winter are being compared to Nirvana and Cobain says something- when/who is the last comparison to Cobain you can remember?

Nirvana was a poetic band fronted by the voice of a generation, with songs of deep meaning, entendre, and angst. They were so important, they legitimately killed genres overnight and changed what popular music could be, all in the span of 6 years, and commercially, just 3. Geese is just a band. Nirvana was a cultural statement. Cameron winter couldn’t sniff Kurt Cobain’s jockstrap. And SNL? That’s your argument? The show that’s had literally every musician with a semblance of relevance. Elite rage bait, cuz you got me upset at your ignorance They should lock u up in the asylum because you have lost your marbles, good sir
Replying to @Svetz17
Geese and Nirvana both played SNL and both play intellectual rock for the losers, the freaks, those shunned by society who all want to collectively say “F**K YOU” to the system….middle fingers in the air…I think the comparison isn’t just obvious it’s *essential*

Gay coworker has his earbuds in, whisper singing very loudly. He asks me “can you hear the music?” I say “nope, I can hear you singing tho.” He says “hehe I’m sorry.” I say “no, by all means. never apologize for party rocking” And then I felt one million years old

Kanye’s Nazi era was one of the only truly transgressive pop culture moments in decades Transgression is mass produced now, everything is a safe-horny simulacrum of rule breaking. But Kanye actually broke the rules and people lost their shit, an indicator of artistic genius

Preciate it is aave
I’m thrown off by young people saying “I appreciate you” instead of “thank you.” (Latest ex: guy in front of me at Chipotle to the guy who made his burrito. I felt like such a common Gen Xer with my regular old “thanks!”) Is there a story here? What’s with this linguistic shift?
