GOOD NEWS: THE DRIVER IS ALIVE! 🙏🏽❤️
We would like to take this moment to share some positive news with everyone who has been following the armed robbery incident.
We are pleased to clarify that the driver we previously reported as deceased is, in fact, alive.
Following further clarification, we established that the Metro Police officer who initially provided the information was referring to the driver of a different vehicle involved in another incident, and not the driver associated with this particular armed robbery. The misunderstanding was therefore about which driver had passed away.
We are incredibly grateful and relieved to confirm that the driver is alive. He continues to fight, not only for his life but also for justice. We will continue to keep him in our thoughts and prayers, wishing him strength, healing, and a full recovery.
To the officer who provided the initial information, please do not feel bad. You did nothing wrong. We asked whether the driver had passed away, and you answered based on the information you had at the time. You were simply unaware that the information related to a different incident. We understand that misunderstandings can happen, and we hold no ill feelings towards you.
Today, we are choosing to focus on the good news: A LIFE IS STILL FIGHTING, AND THERE IS STILL HOPE.
May God continue to protect the driver, strengthen his family, and guide everyone working towards justice.
We are truly grateful that he is alive. 🙏🏽❤️

ARRESTED | Prompt investigation by members from Eldorado Park Crime Intelligence, Detectives and Visible Policing (VISPOL) have led to the arrest of five suspects in connection with an armed robbery targeting an e-hailing driver in Eldorado Park Extension 7.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, at approximately 11:00. The 20-year-old, e-hailing driver, operating a white Toyota Etios, responded to a ride request to pick up a passenger on Maine Street.
Upon arrival, a female suspect signaled the driver and entered the front passenger seat, instructing him to wait for her brothers. Two male suspects subsequently joined them.
Shortly after the second male entered, one suspect engaged the vehicle’s handbrake while the group forcibly robbed the driver of an undisclosed amount of cash, his driver’s licence, identity document, and bank cards. During the incident, a fourth suspect standing outside the vehicle reportedly fired a gunshot and demanded the driver's mobile phone. The suspects subsequently fled the scene without taking the phone. No injuries reported.
Following up on operational information, the officers managed to arrest five suspects aged between 15 and 21. All suspects are expected to appear before court soon on charges related to armed robbery and firearm offences.
