Without title deeds:
- You cannot use the land to borrow money to start a business, pay for private education for your kids etc.
- If you build a house - or any other development - on that land, you cannot legally sell it or legally leave it in your will to your family.

Mexican cartels are running meth labs out of South African farms now.
Not small operations. We are talking industrial scale.
Groblersdal, July 2024 R2 billion worth of chemicals on site. Swartruggens, May 2026 - 481 kg of meth seized, 5 tonnes a month capacity, export routes to Australia and New Zealand. Musina, August 2026 another one near the border. That is five major labs busted since 2024, roughly 16 Mexican nationals arrested across those operations.
Sinaloa and CJNG are the names that keep showing up.
But they are not trying to take over territory. Nothing like what they do in Michoacán or Jalisco. The model here is different - send a cook, find a remote farm, partner with a local network for protection and distribution, set up shop, produce and export. It is franchising, not conquest.
South Africa is convenient for this. Huge domestic tik market already. Remote farms everywhere. Ports to move precursors in and finished product out. And enforcement that was not connecting the dots until recently.
Now the dots are getting connected. But catching the cook does not stop the franchise.
Hawks raid a lab. Headlines get written. Cartel sends another chemist on another flight. Local distributors stay in place. Routes adjust. The business keeps going.
That is the thing about networks, you can cut one branch and the root system survives.
Five labs over two years is the official count. The ones that did not get found nobody knows how many. The Swartruggens operation alone was running 5 tonnes a month before it got caught. That is not a small thing to miss.
Communities pay the price. Tik gets cheaper when production happens locally. Addiction deepens. Distribution violence ticks up. And the profits route back to cartels that have zero stake in whether South Africa functions.
This is not a law enforcement problem in isolation. It is border control, chemical import regulation, rural policing, international coordination, none of which talk to each other smoothly.
The raids keep happening. The labs keep appearing.
Mexican drug cartels are expanding their operations in South Africa.

This is outrageous. It would be useful for our honourable Clergy to investigate further. The attached is an extract from an instruction given to all successful traders at Cape Town’s Gift Market, Three Anchor Bay( previously Christmas market). I am sure the same instruction
is given to all Cape Town’s Markets.
“🎄 🎄 🎅 🤶 ✝️ ✝️
BREAKING - CHRISTMAS HAS LOSTS ITS DAZZLE.
By instruction, the Xmas Lights at ADDERLEY Street, will have no Christian flavor
again.
But now it’s not only the Xmas Lights, it’s all the Cape Town markets.
capemarkets.co.za/
The following has come to my attention with regards to various Xmas markets......
⚠️””Please limit your Christmas decor and tinsel etc for table cloths and stall decoration, so that we are mindful of our community and do not offend any religious group””⚠️
Remember last Christmas how I fought vigorously against the City for changing the iconic Adderley Steet Xmas lights to THE FESTIVITY OF LIGHTS. The City denied this and showed one miserly row of traditional Christmas symbols, Baby Jesus & Mother Marry, to prove me incorrect.
Now, the instruction to one or all of the Cape Town’s Markets is to not exhibit Christmas decorations, proves that I was correct.
How insensitive of the DA run City. How typically WOKE.
No more CHRISTMAS holidays.
No more CHRISTMAS lights.
all not offend others.
How pathetic.”

17 million hectares of SAs most arable land is in the hands of tribal leaders who are on the extravagant government payroll, offering no tangible benefits to taxpayers who pay their salaries. They are however helpful in manipulating their subjects to vote along certain party lines.
Most of the land is fallow, with little to no benefits to the economy.
One has to conclude that it is not about making the land commercially viable. It’s about annexing the apparent asset built by others over generations. AKA Zimbabwefication
