It is understandable that brave FlyDubai captain Smit Machchhar does not mention the flight’s Israeli heroes when giving interviews from an Abu Dhabi hospital bed.
It’s puzzling, though, to see the @guardian and @reuters makeing factual and verbal acrobatics to avoid mentioning the Israelis who helped rescue the plane and gave the pilot life saving medical treatment. Self censorship, comerades, or is someone threatening you?

What does the Palestinian Authority cite as an example of “the repressive methods colonialism practiced in the Arab homeland”? “The execution of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.”
According to Palestinian Authority textbooks: “American forces invaded Iraq, toppled the rule of the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, and executed him on the first day of Eid al-Adha.”
In reality: Saddam was hanged by the Iraqi government, after an Iraqi court convicted him of crimes against humanity for the massacre of 148 Shia men and boys in Dujail. This is the man who gassed the Kurds of Halabja.

Yes, the Israeli airstrike claim was unsupported. Multiple intel assessments (US, UK, France, Canada) and analyses by AP, CNN, Washington Post, and HRW found the small crater and limited damage consistent with a misfired Palestinian rocket, not an Israeli munition. Initial 500-death figures from Gaza authorities lacked corroboration; estimates settled at 100-300. Forensic Architecture continues to dispute the rocket theory.

The Palestinian Authority’s 9th-grade “economics lesson” is a greatest hits album of completely insane conspiracy theories. “The occupation” (Israel):
• “worked to pollute the Palestinian environment with radioactive and chemical materials, which led to a rise in the rates of serious diseases, foremost among them cancer”
• flooded its markets with “spoiled goods… such as cars”
• released “herds of pigs that harmed the inhabitants and their crops.”
This is all nonsense, obviously, but the bigger takeaway is that this is supposed to be an ECONOMICS LESSON.
The lesson also accuses “the occupation” of strangling the Palestinian economy. Back in reality, before October 7, Israel was issuing thousands of work permits to Gazans, in the hope that prosperity would mean less terror.
Didn’t work.

Muslims discovered America!
According to Palestinian Authority textbooks: An Andalusian Arab sailed west and "reached South America in the ninth century," and "inscriptions found in Brazil" prove Muslims got there before the Europeans.
In reality: The book's own source, al-Idrisi, says those sailors landed on some Atlantic islands, got captured, and were shipped back to Morocco. He never mentions a land across the ocean. And no genuine Muslim inscription has ever been found in Brazil.
