This can be fixed pretty quickly, study @nayibbukele , @PatoBullrich and @JMilei. Violent behavior must not be tolerated
🚨Absolute CHAOS erupts on Milan’s streets. First France, now Italy. Cost-of-living protests have descended into fires, looting and violent clashes over the weekend. An October 17 march organized by Italia in Piazza against rising prices and poor public services turned brutally violent as masked youths hurled stones and fireworks at police. Officers responded with tear gas and water cannons. Dozens were detained, many reportedly minors. The unrest follows clashes across Paris and other French cities, where vehicles and buildings were set ablaze and more than 1,200 people were arrested. Further looting and clashes were reported in Milan on October 18, prompting Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to condemn the violence.

SEA friends, be safe out there.
Ledger is investigating reports of loss of funds from users in South East Asia who purchased products from a reseller named CryptoBillis. As a precaution, and pending the results of our investigation, we have asked CryptoBilis to pause all sales and shipments of Ledger devices. We recommend Ledger users who purchased from this reseller in the last 90 days to not initiate set up if you have not done so yet. If you have set up your Ledger device, consider moving assets to a new Ledger signer (with new seed). We will continue to inform customers of updates as the investigation progresses. Reach out to Ledger customer support through official channels with any questions: support.ledger.com/

It's so over
Correction: for multisigs the ideal "safe" rule is that you want each signer to change their key after each operation. (This is making an implicit assumption that ECDSA might become weak, but not to the point where any crack of it would be literally instant so you would literally have to worry about eg. in-mempool frontrunning) You definitely still want to gather sigs offchain if possible, to minimize the number of hours between "sig revealed" and "key no longer active" But again: it's very easy to lose funds from a misconfigured rushed upgrade, so ... don't rush anything.

Young founders don’t like hiring people with kids, but they don’t realize that parents: - have no life or friends - operate on little sleep - are desperate for money - are used to being spoken down to The perfect employee.

You don’t fully grasp how much of your life is tracked until you’re sitting in a courtroom, watching federal prosecutors use your digital history against you, down to your most harmless Google searches. Your entire life becomes an open book, and even your most innocent actions can be twisted into something sinister. They get to tell the most damning version of your story. To tell yours in your own words, you have to take the stand.

Every company holding your ID is one convincing email away from not holding it anymore. Not because they're careless. Because a request that looks official is indistinguishable from one that is - and they have to answer either way. The only architecture that survives this is one where there's nothing on file.
Nothing to declare. Nothing to store. Nothing to leak. We can help you go OffGrid, @Revolut.

Hackers don’t even need to compromise the platform. They can just compromise the regulator’s email and request the platform for the data lol
‼️ BREAKING: We're in contact with the Revolut hacker. According to them, they didn't only take Revolut data, they've also compromised multiple Italian law enforcement departments. They say the operation targeting Revolut ran for six months, and that they used Italian law enforcement systems to send data requests to Revolut. They claim to hold 147 GB taken from the Italian side, including internal docs, calendars and personal material, among it the chat logs of a federal officer arguing with his wife.

A proposal to wind down Balancer and distribute the treasury to BAL holders is live on the forum, authored by Marcus Hardt. Discussion is open; a Snapshot vote is expected to happen from 25 to 29 September. Nothing changes today: pools and withdrawals work as they do now. Any wind-down action waits for the vote.

KYC = Kill Your Customer
‼️ BREAKING: Revolut handed over customers’ passport copies, verification selfies and full transaction histories to a malicious actor. The actor sent lawful government information-demand emails using a genuine government domain that passed domain authentication. Revolut later concluded they were not authentic. Affected customers were notified on Friday. What may have been disclosed ranges from name, date of birth and home address to account statements, withdrawal records and complete Bitcoin transaction history. The company says it has alerted the agency to the unauthorised mailbox on its domain, blocked the address and begun notifying regulators. It has not named the agency, explained how someone obtained a mailbox there, or given a number of affected customers. ZachXBT, who circulated the notices, believes the incident was limited in size and aimed at high-net-worth users.

KYC is 100% useless. There is no way in hell you can confirm who you are using current KYC system. My drivers license was leaked this week. My socials are leaked. All my addresses are online for free if you Google my name. Absolutely broken.

Using ZK for privacy preserving compliance is something even my tech-illiterate, retired mom sees as a no-brainer
This is the honeypot problem, and it's structural. If you collect and store IDs to verify people, you've built a target. Given enough time, targets get hit. ZKPassport proves facts like age, nationality, sanctions, personhood and document authenticity, without collecting or storing any of it. The check runs on the user's device and returns a yes or no. No database. Nothing to leak.
