These Tree bumblebees are fanning their nest to keep it cool 🌡️
Most UK bumblebees nest on or underground. Tree bumblebees, however, prefer to nest high above the ground – bird boxes containing old bird nests are a firm favourite 🐦
Have you spotted a Tree bumblebee nest?

Yesterday we were at Sissinghurst for our monthly bee walk and at Little Cheyne Court wind farm for our wildflower surveys. At Sissinghurst we recorded over 130 bumblebees including all 7 common species, then at the wind farm we recorded two of our rare species!

It must be remembered that yellow rattle #Rhinanthus also supports numerous insects directly! It’s not just a “meadow maker”

Please #retweet/#share for the #bees.🙏🏼🐝
Again let’s talk about #honeybees in the context of ‘Saving the Bees’.
Let’s cut the bull and cut to the chase as there’s way too much confusion/misinformation out there which is a hinderance to & detrimental to genuine bee saving.

On #worldbeeday please can we focus on the #wildbees, not the #honeybee. They are not the only #bees. our #bumblebees & solitarybees need our help! This lovely #queenbumblebee is provisioning her nest. But she has to compete with hundreds of foraging honeybees from a nearby hive!

Today, we went out on two site visits. The 1st was to Benenden Girls School, is a very promising site with many great features and history. The 2nd was to Benenden Medows. We went there to see how the land is developing. A lot of wildflowers starting to come out. @BumblebeeTrust

Hi everyone, yesterday I ran a bumblebee beginners identification course at Mantle Farm. It went well. There was a lot of interest in the project, and the people were engaging with the ID and learned a lot.

Plantlife’s #NoMowMay is back. Take action for nature by putting the lawnmower away and letting the wildflowers bloom 🌸
Even the smallest grassy patch can make a huge difference for our wildlife, including our bumblebees 🐝

Daisies contain about 34 mg of vitamin C per 100g which isn't bad when you consider that an 🍊 contains 53 mg per 100g (I think) and also explains why they have long been considered effective against illnesses such as coughs & colds....because they are!
They are edible and have been cultivated for medicinal use for over 4000 years when the Ancient Egyptians used to grow them in their gardens.
Names that they have been given include 'Bone Flower' & 'Bruisewort' due to their supposed healing properties.
🌳🌳💮🌳🌳
'Fresh as a Daisy' - If we all looked as clean & as pretty as these little flowers when we woke up we would have nothing to worry about.
The name Daisy is believed to have come from the Anglo Saxon 'Daeges Eage' meaning Day's Eye due to the fact that daisies open and close with the coming and going of the ☀️.
In Greek mythology a beautiful nymph named Belides transformed herself into this beautiful little flower in order to escape the unwanted attentions of the God Vertumnus. Unfortunately, transforming themselves into a 🌳 or flower as a last resort to escape the attention of lustful Gods seems to have been a regular occurrence for Nymphs on Ancient Greece.
Daisies are an important food source for 🐝 and even in the continuing and frustrating age of neat & tidy their diminutive stature often seems to mean that they escape the lawnmower blades.

Please don’t mow or spray the dandelions. They are a lifeline for pollinators including bees, butterflies, hoverflies. They support over 50 insect species. Our little film shows the life in a small patch 🐝
