Écrit et réalisé par la multi-récompensée Maïmouna Doucouré (Mignonnes, Hawa), avec Olivier Lorelle comme co-scénariste, le film racontera l’incroyable destin de l’incomparable Joséphine Baker. Il explorera son ascension vers la célébrité internationale dans le Paris des années 1920, son engagement dans la Résistance française et son implication dans le mouvement américain des droits civiques, révélant la femme courageuse, complexe et extraordinaire qui se cachait derrière la légende.
Issue d’une enfance marquée par la ségrégation raciale et les difficultés, la jeune Joséphine Baker quitte l’Amérique des années 1920 pour trouver sa liberté artistique dans le Paris des Années folles, où elle devient l’une des plus grandes vedettes de la scène et du cinéma de son époque. En 1951, lorsqu’elle retourne se produire aux États-Unis en tant que célébrité et héroïne de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Joséphine doit faire face aux contradictions de sa renommée et à l’injustice qu’elle avait autrefois fuie.
Très heureuse de voir PRESSURE célébré à Deauville et Brendan Fraser honoré d’un Talent Award. Un film qui me tient particulièrement à cœur, sur un moment important de notre histoire. À découvrir au cinéma dès ce mercredi 9 septembre. @studiocanal @canalplusgroupe

Le cinéma perd cette semaine l’une de ses voix les plus singulières et visionnaires. Marjane Satrapi était une femme de courage, de liberté et d’inspiration. Quelle fierté d’avoir travaillé avec elle sur Radioactive, Paris Paradis et Persepolis. Son œuvre lui survivra.
C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous avons appris la disparition de Marjane Satrapi.
Artiste complète et femme engagée, elle a marqué les esprits avec son œuvre autobiographique PERSEPOLIS, récompensée au Festival international de la bande dessinée d’Angoulême, puis saluée par le Prix du Jury au Festival de Cannes pour son adaptation au cinéma, une ode universelle à la liberté.
Nous avons aujourd'hui une pensée pour ses proches.
