"Quiet volunteers... Reachin' out to help their fellow man." Lyrics about the best part of bein' country. The country I remember growing up. Midwestern values back then. That's the "greatness" I miss. May we always be great in that way: being good people. youtu.be/4vrZr9IIXNk?si=YtJY…

Spare me this nonsense. Yes, the admin is arresting some people who entered unlawfully. But they are also rounding up tens of thousands of people who entered LEGALLY, including some who hadn’t violated a single immigration law until the Trump admin chose to “delegalize” them.
"You chose to come to this country illegally. You chose to break the law. It is our job to hunt you down and send you back. We don’t make the laws at DHS. We simply enforce them." @SecMullinDHS

In Tennessee, sleeping in your own car can land you in prison for six years.
Not a fine. Not a warning. A felony.
Cities across the US keep passing ordinances that ban sleeping in vehicles, and the people getting caught are the ones with nowhere else to go. You lose the apartment, you keep the car, and the car becomes the last thing standing between you and the sidewalk. Then the law shows up and makes that a crime too.
The logic folds in on itself. Punish someone for being homeless by handing them a record that makes housing and work even harder to get.
A blanket in a back seat. Six years.

“We’re not rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic, we’re putting coal in the boiler and setting a course for the iceberg.”
I said the so-called Big Beautiful Bill would increase the deficit, exacerbate inflation, and increase the price we pay to finance our debt. I was right.
A woman abducted & deported by ICE ICE would not allow her to take her 2 year old baby boy with her. She begged them. Said the man her baby was left with wasn’t safe. She wanted her baby to go with her. They refused. Police found the baby’s body. He had been ….you know…the worst. ICE said the mother refused to take her child. ICE blamed the mom. ICE is the gestapo. Murderers. Traffickers. Rapists. They must be stopped..

This paragraph by Haruki Murakami hits hard:
“Once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.”

This is David Maxwell & he was the former top law enforcement officer under Ken Paxton. He says that after only listening to James Talarico for two hours he knew he was sincere & honest. He came home & knew that he was voting for him to go to Washington & send Ken Paxton home.

Trump just told Ohio he may not help them if they vote Democrat.
Read that slowly.
The President of the United States is threatening voters with less federal help if they choose the wrong party.
That’s not politics.
That’s a fucking protection racket.

Tom Morello: “This land does not belong to the billionaires and the oligarchs. It does not belong to the racists and the warmongers. It does not belong to the fascists and the would-be dictators. Bothers and sisters, this land belongs to you and me. Power to the people!”

We are quietly isolating an entire generation of older people from society, and nobody seems to give a damn.
I took my 84-year-old grandfather to his local bank branch on Friday.
The exact same brick-and-mortar branch where he opened his first account in 1978.
We pull up to the front doors. They’re locked.
Inside is an empty lobby with a small sign: “Cashless Service Hub.”
A young guy in a polo shirt opens the door and tells us:
“We don't handle teller deposits or paper checks here anymore. You just need to download the mobile portal and scan your routing number.”
My grandfather pulls out an old flip phone with a cracked screen and a paper pension check from his coat pocket.
His hands were visibly shaking.
The employee just shrugs.
“You can do it on an iPad, or have a family member manage the app for you.”
This man worked forty-two years in a manufacturing plant. Paid his taxes. Fought for this country.
And now he is made to feel completely useless and stripped of his dignity because he doesn't own an iOS device.
Tech isn't making life easier if it completely locks out the people who built the world we’re living in.
Are your elderly parents or grandparents running into this wall too?

Trump is coming to San Antonio Wednesday. I invited him to the Dilley Trailer Prison. He should face the children he’s traumatizing.
Can the president look these innocent children in the eyes and tell them they deserve to be there?

America is literally deporting people to countries they have no connection with, countries they’ve never been to. This is wildly unlawful. It’s cruel. It’s un-American. It’s evil.

25 kids in one Texas courtroom. 15 with no lawyer. The youngest was 3.
One of them, 13-year-old Angel, broke down crying: "I have no one. I have nothing."
And it's happening to kids in immigration courts across the country. It's evil.
