That's a wrap! Rails 8.0 beta was released at this year's #RailsWorld in Toronto where more than 1,000 Rails developers met for 2 days of talks by 27 speakers, and 2 nights of parties. Thanks to all who made it. See you next time!

Ruby LSP now has a brand new documentation website featuring visual demos: shopify.github.io/ruby-lsp/
We're working hard to enrich the content with more feature demos and consolidated guides (addons, troubleshooting, roadmap, etc.). Stay tuned for updates! 😉

In the past 6 months, the Ruby DX team @Shopify has made significant progress in enhancing Ruby LSP's understanding of Ruby and Rails programs. To showcase these improvements, I've compiled an article with video demos to help you grasp the new features!

We just released v0.16.5 of the Ruby LSP with the first iteration of method support for go to definition!
We will continue iterating to handle more method types and improve accuracy as much as possible. Please let us know if you have feedback and happy coding!

It would be great if @tailwindui could provide a Rails ERB-ready option for content placeholders, similar to the React and Vue snippets. It could look something like this: gist.github.com/andyw8/a1e5a…
And as a next step, I'm imagining a generator that could turn a @tailwindui component into a Rails @ViewComponent.

The Rails LSP that @ShopifyDevs has been working on is so cool.
Hovering over models in your code shows you the attributes and types in your editor.
This works by injecting a Rack app in development that adds /ruby_lsp_rails/ routes. You can view them and see how it communicates from Rails to your editor.
Since this comes directly from your Rails app, you also get always up-to-date information since Rails reloads your code automatically in development.
Excited to see all the other goodies coming that will make this even better. #rails #rubyonrails #ruby

The Ruby LSP now supports the extract to variable refactor. On VS Code, select a piece of code, right click, select refactor and then extract to variable.
This still has some rough edges, but it works well for most common cases.
