There was a Jolene in my life once. And I too thought of my man: “He’s the only one for me… I could never love again.” But The Eagles in Peaceful Easy Feeling got it right. A woman can’t take a man anywhere he doesn’t already know how to go. So he went. And I was very sad for a long time. But I did find love again. Turned out he wasn’t the only one for me. I could and did love again. Jolene is a beautiful song. But those of us who’ve had a Jolene - or a Joe! - in our life usually find out love can and does happen again. And it’s often much much better!
