It's International Women's Day 2025.
Like every year, we will be ignoring the PR posts from architectural offices — and instead highlighting the gender pay gap data from some of the UK's largest practices.

Thanks to North Oxford Trees and Gardens for their amazing crown reduction of our cherished Horse Chestnut - our Span estate was built around it after Tolkien stopped it from being felled. Props to their working Landies too - not fashion accessories!
This is the house on Davenant Road Oxford that @C20CenturySociety want to save. I’ve walked past it many times like today and admired it’s simplicity. Turns out it was designed by Clough Williams-Ellis (Portmeirion) so definitely worth listing G2 I’d say ✊
How it’s going - sadly. I don’t mind replacement of time expired 20s bungalows that under-use site with a new family house but this shouldn’t
have happened
@C20Society sorry to report this little gem has gone for ever

Didn't like the way this @JDVance1 bloke (newly picked as #Trump's running mate) slagged off the UK lately. Looked into him. Not great. Made a parody song inspired by @ABBA called "Vance VP" 🎶

Sad about Benjamin Zephaniah. I was already a fan when he opened a Hackney housing scheme I’d been job architect for in 93. He read out a poem he’d written about it - wish I’d kept it. He was funny humble and warm but punched hard politically R.I.P.

The Holocaust Memorial Bill has passed an important milestone, bringing the construction of a National Holocaust Memorial a step closer. The Bill is confirmed as hybrid, which resolves uncertainty and brings closer the opportunity for MPs to express their support for the Memorial
Love a good glass house - this is lesser known Sheffield Botanical Gardens managing to shine under grey sky

Today, the Government has introduced a Bill to progress the creation of a national Holocaust Memorial for the UK. Its location next to Parliament will give the Holocaust the prominence it deserves, serving as a powerful reminder of where prejudice can lead if unchallenged.

🍃 🌍 At Insall, we strive to demonstrate that historic buildings are part of the solution to the climate emergency. As architect for @ChesterCath we successfully integrated solar panels onto the roof; the first for a cathedral in the north of England.
