We lost a giant of modern finance today. I feel fortunate to have known @VicNiederhoffer, to have learned from him, and to have been inspired by his example. A finance scholar, trader, world-champion squash player, and endlessly curious intellectual, he was as generous and kind as he was brilliant. He will be deeply missed. RIP

Dave Schmittlein led @MITSloan for 17 years, transforming us from a niche player to a top-5 management school. He did so by always putting faculty, staff, and students first—never took the limelight, even though he was a star. Smart, funny, and wise, he inspires us. RIP
MIT Sloan’s former dean, David Schmittlein, has passed away after an extended illness.
Not only was he an incredible leader, but he was also a mentor, a teacher, and a friend who brought the school to new heights during his 17-year tenure.
We will miss him very much.

Ed Roberts was an extraordinary scholar who created the academic field of entrepreneurship, and put his theories into practice with great success. But he also helped so many scholars in other fields, including me. His support and encouragement while I was a junior faculty changed my career path; any success I may have achieved in my research/teaching/practice is due, in part, to his kindness and mentorship. RIP
