A tremendous series by @TheLocal_TO in collaboration with @MAP_Health on life expectancy gaps in #Toronto. Kudos to @taimhuynh @rebeccaga0 & everyone involved! Thanks for inviting me to comment and will be sharing with @upstreamlab team
A few years ago, when the Local’s editor-in-chief @taimhuynh first saw neighbourhood-level life expectancy data showing striking disparities in major cities in the US, he had a question: why wasn’t this work being done in Toronto? 🧵1/8
This work - led by @archnaguptamd of @upstreamlab @UofTFamilyMed - is a great example of international collaboration on a common challenge: increasing precarious work. Great opportunity to learn & engage #SDOH
Registration is OPEN for our research dissemination event on Oct 24 - "Advancing Equitable Pathways: Empowering Precarious Workers through Enhanced Social Protection and Healthcare Access in Canada and Peru"

The social determinants of health should be at the heart of #PopulationHealthManagement. Close coordination between primary care and public health, actionable data, and formal mechanisms to engage communities in every step and enable multisectoral action are key.
