People want to both ban data centers and have free access to them
One thing Rand was spot on about is the way the public responds to every new invention by trying to ban it, up until the point where the invention proves indispensibly useful, at which point they demand it be given to them for free.

same as requesting a call vs just sending a message
Civilized people hate voice notes because they’re inherently rude. A voice note is easy to send but hard to receive, since one must interrupt oneself and listen. To send someone a voice note is to say "My time is more valuable than yours." It’s insulting.

Rick as a pickled gherkin epitomises the human condition. With only his mind, and minimal access to the world, he subdues it. #RickAndMorty

The thing that makes high paying tech jobs better is not just the pay, but they usually have better management and you can learn more and have a better time.

the future is bright
prediction markets will replace buying stuff. i want someone to bring kiwis to my house. i make a prediction market about whether someone will deliver 4 kiwis to my doorstep and load $15 into "no". a guy with an ebike sees it and picks up some kiwis. before dropping them off on my doorstep, he bets yes. he drops them off. the market resolves to "yes" and he gets $15. rest in peace, amazon, doordash, ubereats, etc.

The dream is that if AI can do all human labour we will have time to do art and discover ourselves, but I worry we’d just end up playing 0 sum games

It's crazy how the technology to replace a lot of jobs like cashiers already exists, yet those jobs are not being replaced

Mom: Don’t play with scissors Me:
A young man in Chengdu, China used technology to make “flying swords” in real life. He controls many drone-like swords with hand gestures, making it look like scenes from a fantasy movie. People online are amazed and call it “modern-day kung fu tech.”
