“If I can’t pay them, how am I going to rent something else? They were essentially saying they’d throw me out on the street. Can you imagine?” she added, through tears. “After an entire lifetime? And I’m high-risk. I’m 70 years old.” #evictionruinslives denverpost.com/2020/07/24/ev…

So I've been doing some reporting around evictions restarting and housing insecurity in Colorado. Today I got a call from a source that her landlord showed up with the sheriff's department. They had movers and informed her she was being evicted. Today. – at Brighton, CO

Here's @AmbJohnBolton saying Chelsea Manning should get the death penalty for disclosing classified information. Genuinely one of the most chilling interviews I've ever seen.

After days of negotiations, Colorado Senate Democrats have abandoned a plan to extend the state eviction moratorium, which expires this week. Housing lobby is potent. Votes just weren't there. Advocates are devastated. Hundreds of thousands here may be at risk of eviction soon.

Former Gov. John Hickenlooper kicked off tonight's debate by referring to the "shooting of George Floyd." "Everyone was in their living room. Everyone saw it. It was a catalyst to action." #copolitics

During a period of silence for George Floyd, a #Boulder councilwoman -- who previously made statements that white men have also experienced discrimination -- said she did not know the significance of 8 minutes and 46 seconds
Replying to @shayshinecastle
Councilwoman Nagle wasn't sure what 8:46 signified. Yates explained since it wasn't on the agenda. He sent an email but council has had so many emails — 2,800 in the last 5 days, he said — that it must have gone overlooked.

Friend: There are people driving up and down my street outside honking and such asking to defund the police. But it's really bothering my dog, it's not good for the dog. Asking community to stop, assuring that she hears them. I heard this was going to be happening.

So let me see if I have this right #Boulder: The coronavirus has laid waste to the budget, meaning we are going to have to come up with creative spending solutions. But that means it is not the time to discuss spending on police?
City Manager: Boulder police budget reform may not be discussed until next year as coronavirus slashes municipal expenses trib.al/tdDr12w

Was news to me that Denver cops could intentionally point guns at people and not have to report it. But that’s just been banned. @ShellyBradbury and @finleybruce: denverpost.com/2020/06/07/de…

In Colorado, if someone dies in police custody and was not shot... ...there is no requirement of prosecutors to issue a public-facing report outlining why death was (or was not) legally justified. How do I know? Because of our work on the 2018 death of David Baker in Aurora
