I want to tell you about Yuval Salomon. On Friday evening, October 6, 2023, Yuval celebrated his 29th birthday. On the morning of October 7, three terrorists broke into his home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza. Yuval had only a butcher's knife to defend himself. He fought back - stabbing the first terrorist, kicking the second hard enough to drive him back, while the third fled. Yuval was wounded by a bullet fragment, but survived the first attack. His father, Doron, told him that help was on the way. It never came. The terrorists continued moving between homes in the neighborhood. They planted explosives outside Yuval's apartment and broke in again. At 11:15 a.m., Yuval called his father. "Terrorists are coming into my home again. I'm going out to fight them. I love you. We probably won't see each other again." Fifteen minutes later, at 11:30 a.m., Yuval wrote that he could no longer hold the safe-room door handle. "I love you. Bye bye." His family called him. There was no answer. Moments later, the terrorists murdered Yuval inside his home. He fought like a lion. On October 13, his family was officially notified. Yuval was found wrapped in an Israeli flag - the same flag his father had given him only weeks earlier. He had wrapped himself in it as he prepared to defend himself. The soldier who found Yuval later returned the bloodstained flag to his family. Yuval was buried in a temporary grave. On September 29, 2025, almost two years later, he was laid to rest among the fields of Kibbutz Kfar Aza, where he grew up. I took the final two photos in Yuval's home after the massacre.
